

Runic Mod
Since ancient times, runes have served as solutions to many problems. Most of them awaken only in moments of extreme necessity, but some can be activated manually.
The Runic mod introduces 11 unique runes with a completely new crafting mechanic. They function similarly to the Totem of Undying - each rune provides a special ability that will make your life easier if you're well prepared for upcoming dangers!
Getting Started
To create your first rune, you'll need an Infused Amethyst. It can be crafted from an Amethyst Shard and Glowstone Dust (there's an alternative recipe for version 1.16 without Caves & Cliffs backward compatibility - use JEI to view). Then create a Blank Rune by combining 1 Infused Amethyst, 1 Paper, and 1 Smooth Stone. To activate runes, you'll need a Rune Inscriber and a Runic Altar.
The Rune Inscriber is crafted using the iron shovel recipe, but with an Iron Nugget instead of the bottom stick. You can also create a Runes Encyclopedia from a Book and a Blank Rune - it contains detailed instructions on how to use the mod.
Runic Altar and Rune Crafting
The Runic Altar serves as the workbench for this mod. Create it from 4 Blank Runes and 4 Infused Amethysts arranged around a Smooth Stone on a crafting table. To use it, place Infused Amethysts in the first slot, Blank Runes in the second, and additional components in the third. The additional component determines the future rune's ability. Then crouch and right-click the Runic Altar with a Rune Inscriber in hand to combine the components into a working rune.
Types of Runes
Runes can be stacked in groups of 8 and used in either main hand or offhand. Potion effects last up to 30 seconds depending on the rune type.
- Void Rune (Levitation + Slow Fall when falling into the end void): Popped Chorus Fruit
- Water Rune (Conduit Power + Full breath when drowning): Prismarine Shard
- Fire Rune (Fire Resistance + Extinguish when on fire): Magma Cream
- Purification Rune (Removes curses with right-click if wearing cursed armor/item in offhand): Ghast Tear
- Mining Rune (Haste + Night Vision below Y:30): Raw Gold (Gold Ingot for 1.16.5)
- Recall Rune (Teleport to Overworld Spawn when in another dimension): Ender Eye
- Antivenom Rune (Removes poison effect): Fermented Spider Eye
- Blooming Rune (Removes wither effect + Regeneration when withering): Nether Wart
- Clarity Rune (Removes blindness + Night Vision when blinded): Quartz
- Saturation Rune (Restores hunger bar + Removes hunger when very hungry or with right-click): Rare mob drop, not craftable
- Eternity Rune (Copies items in offhand except shulker boxes): Nether Star
Additional Features
The mod also adds several Smooth Stone variants that can be obtained using a Stonecutter. In versions before V1.1, the Eternity Rune doesn't function (except for an additional achievement) and is unavailable without creative mode.
