Sanity Mod

This mod was created specifically for MMD's SpookyJam 2018!

The game introduces a new sanity mechanic that players must carefully monitor. Sanity level decreases when killing passive mobs and consuming poor quality food (such as rotten flesh). It can be restored through sleep and healthy food items (like pumpkin pie). Low sanity levels lead to various negative consequences.

Consequences of Low Sanity

1. Ghost Zombies

These creatures appear when a player's sanity reaches critically low levels and immediately begin pursuing them. Ghost zombies disappear after a few seconds, when entering illuminated areas, or when losing their target. If successful in destroying such a zombie, it leaves behind specter goo.

2. Light Seekers

These beings, composed of smoke (at least in the living realm), assist ghost zombies by destroying light sources near players suffering from low sanity. They're easily noticeable due to their characteristic loud noise. Upon reaching a light fixture, the light seeker breaks it and vanishes. They can be destroyed by standing near the target light source or by destroying it, but they don't drop any items.

3. Staring Eyes

Although these creatures are harmless, they create an unsettling atmosphere. In complete darkness, invisible beings with glowing eyes may appear when sanity is low, staring intently at the player. They immediately disappear when approached. The lower the sanity level, the more frequently these reminders appear about the need to monitor one's mental state.

The development of this mod was inspired by the sanity mechanic from the game Don't Starve.
