ScalableLux
A Fabric modification based on Starlight that significantly speeds up lighting processing in Minecraft.
Why is this fork needed?
Development of the original Starlight was discontinued on March 8, 2024, but performance issues with Minecraft's standard lighting system remain relevant. The original lighting engine continues to be a bottleneck during intensive chunk generation.
Starlight technology demonstrates impressive performance - it operates twice as fast as the standard lighting system. This allows for efficient load distribution across more than 24 processing threads. The unique "stateless" architecture enables parallel lighting updates, creating significant performance advantages.
For multiplayer servers with large numbers of players where chunk generation experiences heavy loads, this technology remains critically important. This is especially true for Fabric servers and other modified servers with active player bases.
Key Features
- Includes all performance optimizations from the original Starlight with additional bug fixes
- Provides optional support for parallel lighting updates
- Significantly improves performance during rapid world generation and intensive lighting changes
