Scaling Feast - Enhanced Hunger System for Minecraft
Scaling Feast mod offers a progressive enhancement to Minecraft's default hunger mechanics. Rather than providing unlimited capabilities instantly, this mod enables gradual character development by increasing maximum hunger and saturation reserves as you progress through the game.
Core Features
The mod introduces 5 unique items and a new ore that fundamentally change hunger management approach.
Hearty Shank - the primary crafting item that increases character's maximum hunger level when consumed.
Iron Apple - used for creating hearty shanks and can be eaten to slowly restore hunger. An enchanted version exists that restores hunger faster and reduces exhaustion accumulation rate.
Hearty Feast - a cake-like block structure created from hearty shanks. Each slice restores a percentage of your maximum hunger, making it particularly valuable at high hunger levels.
Exhausting Potato - reduces hunger by 4 units when eaten. Can also serve as a nether wart alternative for creating awkward potions.
Exhausting Apple - fully restores hunger and saturation but decreases maximum hunger level.
Exhausting Ore - new ore found in extremely hot or cold biomes. Available in ingot, nugget, and block forms with various applications.
Enhanced Interface
The mod significantly improves hunger indicator display in HUD. Colored hunger icons appear over standard ones, showing additional reserves. Colored outlines demonstrate saturation level and maximum hunger. All colors and displayed information are customizable.
You can configure starting hunger level - from minimal values for players who never sprint...
...to practically unlimited reserves for players who don't want to worry about hunger.
Penalty System and New Mechanics
During starvation, the maximum hunger outline changes color, warning of danger.
Continued starvation turns the color dark red.
In critical condition, the next starvation damage will reduce maximum hunger level. This system is fully configurable and can be disabled.
Mobs can reduce both health and hunger when attacking players (configurable and can be disabled).
Dynamic Starvation - for each hunger unit lost during starvation, player receives additional damage with next starvation damage.
Exhaustion Scaling - hunger loss rate when mining blocks depends on their breaking time.
Enchantments and Potions
Gluttony - rare chestplate enchantment that increases nutritional value of consumed food.
Fasting - chestplate enchantment reducing exhaustion accumulation rate by 10% per level.
Famine - sword enchantment that weakens targets and rapidly drains their hunger (for players).
Eternal Feast - rare sword enchantment restoring hunger when killing entities.
Curse of Deprivation - rare curse accelerating starvation damage.
Curse of Laziness - rare curse halving player's total exhaustion.
Curse of Sensitivity - rare curse applying "Soft Stomach" debuff when overeating.
Metabolism - potion effect slowly restoring hunger at the same rate as health regeneration.
Bloated - potion effect functioning as absorption for hunger.
Like regular hunger, bloating uses colored overlays that change based on effect level.
Hunger Plus/Minus - potion effects increasing/decreasing maximum hunger.
Deficiency - instant potion effect opposite to vanilla saturation.
Iron Stomach - potion effect reducing exhaustion accumulation rate by 20% per level.
Soft Stomach - opposite effect increasing exhaustion accumulation rate by 20% per level.
Compatibility
The mod requires AppleCore to function. Compatible with other food mods like Pam's HarvestCraft. Features integration with Tinker's Construct and Construct's Armory, allowing exhausting metal usage as tool material.
Also works with Spice of Life and Spice of Life Carrot Edition, modifying maximum hunger based on diet diversity.
This mod is not an addon to SilentChaos512's Scaling Health, though it was inspired by it.
