Scrap Tech Workshop is a post-apocalyptic style technology mod where you extract value from leftovers rather than creating shiny new alloys. Hunt for scattered scrap, collect worn parts, create improvised power sources, and assemble a multifunctional tool before establishing your first corner of industry powered by recycler. ♻️

Core Features ✨

Scrap System

  • Scrap piles - vary in size from 1 to 4, different types available (Mixed / Metal / Tech). Collect with right-click or break; can auto-merge; can optionally decay
  • Variants affect loot rarity and quality

Recycler

  • Converts items into scrap components
  • Redstone compatible (comparator signal)
  • State-driven system

Multifunctional Tool

  • One energy-powered tool instead of full hotbar
  • Adaptive mining speed depending on block type (axe / pick / shovel)
  • Replaceable power cells with visual charge indicator
  • Four reserved slots for future modules

Additional Features

  • Auto-merge and auto-pickup (configurable)
  • Fortune and Silk Touch support for scrap piles
  • Multi-loader: Forge and Fabric builds available

ModJam Entry 🧪

Created for "Forge the Future: Minecraft ModJam 2025". During the jam: metrics may change, visuals may be refined, and feedback (balance, crashes, weird cases, quality of life) is very welcome.

Quick Start 🛠️

  1. Collect scrap: Break stones and early world debris (if configured) or raid chests. Harvest natural scrap piles (right-click or mine). Fortune helps.
  2. Craft basic power cell - early improvised battery 🔋
  3. Create Scrap Multitool and insert battery (Shift + right-click to open if needed)
  4. Gather more junk and build recycler
  5. Feed junk into recycler → get structured scrap components → unlock more advanced crafting routes
  6. Automate with hoppers / comparators after stabilization

Gameplay Loop

Exploration → scavenging → assembly → recycling → expansion. Quick to start, room to grow.

Theme and Design 🎯

Low-tier technology emerging from ruins: you restore functionality from fragments. Emphasis on reclaiming and repurposing - fewer pristine fantasy metals, more battered panels, coils, housings.

Settings and Balancing

Configurable (current or planned) parameters:

  • Auto-merge toggle
  • Auto-pickup + cooldown
  • Decay enable + chance
  • Silk Touch and Fortune behavior
  • Loot weights and variant tables

Tool Modules

Highlights of the multifunctional tool:

  • Adaptive mining speed based on block tags (axe / pick / shovel)
  • Energy costs: per block, per attack, per active use
  • Replaceable batteries; depleted cells visually downgrade
  • Four reserved module slots (API scaffolded; gameplay modules coming later)
  • Shift + right-click to configure
  • Intentionally not enchantable - upgrades will be modular

  • Modules for multifunctional tool (AOE / scanner / HUD flair)
  • Recycler tiers (speed, efficiency, catalysts)
  • World scrap micro-structures / salvage caches
  • Cross-mod salvage tables (opt-in integration)
  • Workshop blocks (charging dock, analyzer station)
  • Light lore fragments (data shards, encoded tags)
