SeedLight Riftways
Allow me to introduce you to SeedLight Riftways — a revolutionary approach to traveling between worlds in Minecraft! Forget the need to constantly use menus to switch servers and worlds. This mod creates a genuine interworld portal system that seamlessly integrates into gameplay.
About the Modification
Creating modern gaming environments requires a thoughtful approach to various types of transitions between different locations and situational scenarios.
The foundation of the entire mechanism is the SeedLight plant. By growing it, you can open a Riftway portal that allows direct travel to any server where at least one such portal is also activated. From there, you can return to your native world or embark on an exciting journey through many other worlds, reminiscent of adventures from Minecraft Storymode, Alan Becker's animations, or interactions between Hermticraft and Empires.
This is more than just a convenient tool — it's the foundation for creating a genuine "multiverse" in Minecraft, a way to connect worlds without breaking immersion through constant returns to the main menu.

How to Start Playing
Creating the Riftway Portal
First, you'll need to obtain a SeedLight seed — an ancient artifact believed to be the key to the successes of forgotten civilizations.
These rare seeds can be found in the following locations:
- End Cities — 1-2 seeds with 20% probability
- Ancient Cities — 1 seed with 25% probability
- Bastions — 1-2 seeds with 15% probability
After obtaining the seed, plant it in an open space with good lighting — after all, the plant isn't called SeedLight for nothing. This is an extremely demanding plant that grows slower than most others and requires regular watering using water bottles.
Each growth stage consumes 1-2 units of moisture with a maximum reserve of 10 units. Each thrown water bottle adds 0 to 3 units.
Be careful when harvesting the plant — it's extremely fragile, and without Fortune III enchantment, there's no guarantee of preserving the seed (base probability 33%, increases with each enchantment level).
When the plant blooms, accumulated energy causes exponential growth into a large tree, inside which the long-awaited Riftway portal forms! However, initially it's inactive and simply repels players attempting to enter.
Setting the Destination
Now you'll need Inter-Riftways Leaves, which can be found in the same locations as the seeds:
- End Cities — 1-2 leaves with 30% probability
- Ancient Cities — 1-2 leaves with 30% probability
- Bastions — 1 leaf with 25% probability
Alternatively, you can collect leaves from the grown tree, though this isn't the most aesthetic solution:
- SeedLight Rift Flowering Leaves: 13-70% chance of getting a leaf
- SeedLight Rift Leaves: 15-72% chance of getting a leaf There's also a small bonus — 0-40% chance of getting an additional seed.
Next, you'll need to name the destination on an anvil! Place the obtained leaf in the anvil and rename it to the IP address of the desired server (for example, "mc.example.com"). To connect to a local world, enter "local" for the last played world or "local:worldname" for a specific world.
After applying the leaf to the Riftway portal, it will turn blue, signaling activation! Now you can enter the portal and travel to new places or to friends.
Alternative Method (version 0.0.3 and above)
You can simply enter the portal while holding the leaf in your hand — in this case, travel will occur to the destination specified on that exact leaf.
Portal Interactions
As mentioned, portal activation occurs when setting a destination.
To deactivate, use a fire charge — simply right-click the portal, and it will return to its inactive red state.
You can set an item combination to restrict access to the portal. Fill a bundle with the required items and right-click the portal. Now anyone wanting to pass through your portal must add the same combination.
To remove the restriction, simply empty the bundle and click the portal again.
Connecting to a Protected Portal
To connect to a portal protected by an item combination:
- Learn the exact combination from the owner
- Fill your bundle with identical items
- Simply hold it in your hand when passing through the portal
Where to Get a Bundle?
In survival mode, this isn't yet possible legitimately, but there are modifications and data packs that allow this. You can also use the command /give @p minecraft:bundle
Additional Information
For server administrators and fans of large-scale constructions, there's a special "Riftway Block" available in creative mode. You can create portals of any size from these blocks.
Portals located no more than 10 blocks apart are considered a single entity. This is important because when connecting, a player appears at the portal closest to their original entry point.
For example, if a player entered their portal at coordinates 0 64 0, and there are two portals on the server — at 369 98 3 and -20 60 44 — they will appear at the second one.
Portal wood can be used in construction, though the thick bark prevents plank crafting. Leaves can be collected with shears or Silk Touch enchantment.
After passing through a portal, a 10-second cooldown activates before another portal can be used — this prevents cycling between servers.
Development Plans
The mod is in ALPHA stage, so expect bug fixes and new functionality:

- Ability to set personal destination versus server-wide one
- Compatibility with vanilla servers through modification/plugin
- Forge version
- Bypass whitelist for players connecting through portals
- Patchouli book integration for in-game learning
- Configuration interface directly in the game
- Random travel between worlds functionality
- Possibility of inventory/data sharing between worlds using shared chests
