Server-Side Horror
Server Side Horror is a fully configurable server-side mod that introduces ambient horror elements to your Minecraft world. It includes just one jumpscare effect and a variety of subtle yet unsettling events. The mod also adds several new structures. The key advantage is that players don't need to install anything, meaning you can deploy it on your server without participants even being aware of its presence.

Important! Spoiler Warning
This mod is fully customizable. You can disable events or modify their occurrence probability, add or remove player names, chat messages, or sign texts. Configuration can be done directly in-game or by editing the JSON file located at config/serversidehorror.json in the profile folder.

Frequently Asked Questions
Question: How does this mod differ from "From The Fog"? Answer: While the mod includes several events inspired by the Herobrine story, it's not exclusively dedicated to this theme. Server Side Horror primarily aims to create a mysterious cursed atmosphere in your world. Unlike "From The Fog," which requires client-side installation, this mod is entirely server-based.
Question: Will there be further updates to the mod? Answer: Yes, despite being created for the 2025 Serverside Summer Modjam competition, continued development is planned with the addition of new events and features.
Question: How is event probability calculated? Answer: I aimed to ensure every player would encounter each event at least twice during an intense two-week Minecraft playing session, while avoiding constant event spamming. Based on the assumption that a player spends 5 hours per day gaming over two weeks (15 in-game days or 360,000 ticks), probabilities were roughly calculated.

This mod was created for participation in the 2025 Serverside Summer Modjam competition. I remembered the competition only a week before the deadline, but I believe the final result is commendable. This work also helped me learn new approaches and view development from a different perspective. If you encounter bugs or other issues, please submit reports with logs.
