Shields+
The Shields+ modification significantly expands shield capabilities in Minecraft, adding new varieties and improving existing defense mechanics.
Expanded Shield Arsenal
The mod introduces shields for all standard game materials - from wooden to netherite. Each type possesses unique characteristics:
- Blocked damage: determines how much incoming damage the shield absorbs
- Lift time: duration of continuous blocking before entering cooldown mode
- Cooldown: time required to restore blocking capability
All these parameters can be configured via data packs for complete balance control.
Magical Enhancements
Shields can now be enchanted on the enchanting table! Available enchantment types:
- Reinforced (max V) - increases blocked damage
- Recoil (max II) - knocks back enemies and returns projectiles
- Aegis (max V) - reduces damage that passes through the shield
- Reflection (max IV) - returns part of received damage to the attacker
- Ablaze (max II) - sets enemies and projectiles on fire
- Lightweight - increases movement speed while blocking
- Fast Recovery - reduces shield cooldown time
- Perfect Parry - complete damage absorption with timely blocking and enemy stun
- Celestial Guardian - provides powerful absorption at critical damage (with cooldown)
Improved Mechanics
The mod eliminates some shortcomings of the vanilla system:
- Removed the 0.25-second period when the shield doesn't activate after being raised
- The shield now takes damage from any attack, not just damage above 3 units
- Shield disabling system works on the Combat Test Update principle - always for 1.6 seconds instead of random 5-second disabling
