Simple Death Improvements
Dying in Minecraft can be quite annoying, and losing progress due to unfortunate circumstances is truly frustrating. This mod aims to solve most (if not all) of these problems by offering subtle changes that blend well with the vanilla game style. Development was focused on creating an alternative to overloaded gravestone mods. All features can be customized to your preference.
For the Fabric version, Fabric API and Fzzy Config are required. Settings can be changed in-game via Mod Menu. The NeoForge version only requires Fzzy Config, with settings available in the standard mods menu.
Key Features
Items Never Despawn After Death
Items dropped upon death never disappear and remain exactly where they fell. This eliminates stressful runs to retrieve your belongings and allows you to calmly plan their recovery.
Compact Item Dropping
When you die, all your items drop in a compact pile exactly at the death location, rather than scattering in all directions. You no longer need to search for your items even after reaching the death point, and the risk of them falling into lava is eliminated.
Item Protection in Lava and Void
When dying in lava or after falling into the Void, items appear at the last safe location you were at. This prevents catastrophic progress loss, although with the compact dropping feature disabled, some items may still be destroyed.
Explosion Resistance
Explosions no longer affect dropped items. This mechanic is usually useless, and when it destroys your items (especially during Wither battles), it causes significant frustration.
Experience Preservation
Now significantly less experience is lost upon death (default 80%) compared to the vanilla version. A small but important change, as standard experience losses are too high without apparent reason. Note that experience orbs still scatter and can burn in lava or disappear in the Void.
Equipment Retention (disabled by default)
In the mod settings, you can choose which items to keep upon death: armor, hotbar contents, or accessories via Accessories API. These settings are ignored if the keep inventory rule is enabled.
