About the Mod

Sleep Tight represents a comprehensive overhaul of the sleeping system in Minecraft, completely changing the approach to nighttime rest. This mod makes sleeping more balanced and engaging by adding new mechanics and possibilities.

Main Goals of the Mod:

• Slow down early game progression so that sleeping isn't an automatic solution every night
• Reward players for using a permanent bed instead of random sleeping spots
• Provide advanced options for instant sleep without setting respawn points
• Expand the rest system by allowing sleep during daytime
• Add risks and dangers associated with sleep: nightmares, sleep encounters, and bedbugs

As a result, sleeping becomes more meaningful and balanced while maintaining engagement through new mechanics. In the late game, the mod feels like vanilla but with additional benefits.

The mod is highly configurable. Want only hammocks without sleep changes? Easily done!

🎒 Night Bags

• Late-game item crafted from echo shards and phantom membrane
• Serves as a temporary bed that doesn't set respawn point
• When used, instantly puts the player to sleep on the spot
• After waking up, automatically returns to inventory - perfect for camping!
• Doesn't prevent phantom spawns or provide additional benefits

😴 Hammocks

• Allow resting during daytime
• When using, can swing back and forth by pressing "A" or "D" movement keys
• Available in various colors
• Can be installed between two fences with 2-block gap or in three-block space against two blocks

🪳 Bedbugs

• Annoying mobs that have a small chance to spawn after sleeping on higher difficulty levels
• Normally ignore the player and run toward the nearest bed
• Upon reaching a bed, burrow into it, making it unusable/"infested"
• To clean, need to use a harming potion on the bed itself
• Can pass through doors
• Sometimes spawn in the wild and attack players when no beds are nearby

🏠 Home Bed

• Sleeping in the same bed 8 times marks it as "home bed"
• After marking, you receive a new effect - Invigorated - upon waking up
• Invigorated increases experience drops from ores and mobs for an extended period
• Don't break the bed or let it get infested - this resets the home bed status
• Further sleep in the same bed increases home bed level up to maximum of 100
• Home bed status is displayed in a new icon on the sleep screen

🌑 Nightmares

• Can now lie on a bed or hammock without sleeping, moving camera and accessing inventory
• Successful sleep now has a cooldown (default 5 minutes)
• Some events, like sleep encounters or nightmares, impose more severe penalties
• Current cooldown time is displayed in a new status bar below crosshair when aiming or resting
• During sleep, current time is displayed in the left corner of the screen
• Beds in the Nether no longer explode violently - only small blast. Can completely disable explosion and sleep there

🧟 Sleep Encounters

• Previously known as "bad dreams" - old mechanic removed from previous Minecraft versions
• When sleeping near a dark spot, chance to be awakened by a mob that could naturally spawn there
• No longer safe to sleep in dark caves!

💤 Sleep Benefits & Requirements

The mod offers many ways to customize sleep experience. Here are all available options with their default behavior:

• Sleep requires full hunger (default off)
• Sleep requires experience toll (default 0)
• Sleep grants status effect (only Invigorated for home beds)
• Heal when waking up (default on)
• Clear all effects when waking up (default on)
• Consume hunger when waking up (default on)

All these settings can be enabled or disabled individually for each bed type (beds, hammocks, and sleeping bags). Other aspects of the mod are also configurable - be sure to check configurations for more detailed explanation.

💜 Mod Integration

With Heartstones mod installed, sleeping next to a Heartstone owner grants both regeneration effect.
