Slime Golems
A Forge Mod
Creating a slime golem is incredibly simple: place two slime blocks on top of each other and top it off with a melon. Surprisingly, that's exactly how this magic works!
If you want to get a rocky slime golem, simply right-click a regular slime golem while holding cobblestone.
Main Features
This modification turns slime farming into an easy and engaging activity. Slime golems leave thin slime trails behind them as they move. These trails can be collected by hand to obtain slimeballs.
An interesting feature: you can increase the thickness of the slime layer by adding additional slimeballs to it with a right-click. In terms of mechanics, these layers resemble snow cover.
Regular slime golems attack hostile mobs but don't deal damage. Instead, they apply a powerful slowness effect for a short time. The rocky versions deal 1.5 hearts of damage plus the same slowness effect.
Slime layers between 2 and 8 blocks high possess the properties of regular slime blocks - they bounce and slow movement. When a layer reaches 8 blocks, the final slimeball turns it into a full vanilla slime block.
An interesting bonus: if you shear the melon off a golem, you'll get melon slices.
Version Differences
- 1.15.x: Slime golems take damage from rain, no settings and no rocky golems
- 1.16.x: Added settings for weather damage, slime layer placement and rocky golems (also configurable)
- 1.18.x: Added creative spawn egg
- 1.19.0: No changes
Settings
You can disable rocky golems. If they already exist in the world, they'll maintain their appearance but stop dealing damage, while creating new ones becomes impossible. When re-enabled, existing rocky golems will be able to attack again.
You can enable vulnerability to water. Rain, water or bubble columns will damage slime golems.
Also available is the option to enable conditional slime layer placement. Golems will only leave trails in swamp biomes or slime chunks, which doesn't affect their aggressive behavior.
Future Plans
Please note: these are just ideas that may never be implemented
- Slime iron golems
- Ability for golems to heal each other
- Throwable slime weapon
- Slime turrets
- Honey golems? Probably better as a separate modification
