Sneaky Curses
About the Modification
The Sneaky Curses mod fundamentally changes the curse mechanics in Minecraft by hiding their display in item tooltips. Now you won't be able to immediately determine exactly what curse is placed on an item, creating a completely new gaming experience with elements of surprise and risk.
The game becomes significantly more interesting when you don't know for sure what curse you're dealing with. The mod is especially recommended to be used alongside other modifications that add additional types of curses - this creates even more variability and unexpected situations.
Features and Visual Changes
Instead of the standard display of curses in item descriptions, the mod introduces the following changes:
• Curses are completely hidden from tooltips
• The name of the cursed item is colored red
• Items that only have curses no longer have the characteristic glow
These visual clues let you know that the item is cursed, but don't reveal the specific type of curse, forcing you to make decisions blindly.
Settings and Compatibility
The mod supports Minecraft versions 1.12, 1.14, 1.15, 1.16, and 1.18, and is installed client-side only. For configuration on the Forge platform, it's recommended to install the additional Config Menus for Forge mod, which allows you to change parameters directly in the game.
For Fabric users, settings currently require manual editing of configuration files. In a world, execute the command /config showfile <modid>, choosing CLIENT or SERVER (depending on the mod), then click on the file name with the .toml extension that appears in chat. After saving the file, the configuration will automatically update in the game after a few seconds without needing to restart.
Inspiration and Development
The development of Sneaky Curses was inspired by Zabi94's mods - Curse Silence and NoMoreGlowingPots, which laid the foundation for creating this unique hidden curse mechanic.
