Solute was started as a mod to add small QOL features for my own SMP. This slowly grew out to a full on vanilla plus mod that can be used on its own to improve the base game by just a nudge, while still allowing players to connect with vanilla clients.

The mod is split up in modules which can all be turned on and off on demand from in-game and/or a config file.

Modules

Bed : Speed through your nights When sleeping, the game will not skip to the morning, it will speed up time till morning. Making for a cinematic experience.
Bricks: Wear and tear details have never been this easy - Use vines on a block to turn it into its mossy variant. (sneak to normally place the vines) - Use shears on a moss blocks to turn it into its base variant. - Use a pickaxe on a block to turn it into its cracked variant. - Use a clay ball on a block to turn it back into its normal variant.
Cauldron: Remember to wash your blocks before building Added a new way of crafting, 'washing' blocks using a cauldron. Use concrete powder on a cauldron with water to harden it. Use dirt on a cauldron to turn it into mud.
Creeper: Don't let mobs break your builds Disables block damage caused by creepers and ghast fireballs
Farmland: Making hoes useful since release 1.0.0 Use a hoe on a full-grown crop to harvest it, and the surrounding crops. If a crop drops seeds, they will automatically be replanted. The higher tier the hoe is, the bigger the range of harvested crops will be. Enchants (like fortune) work the same way as they would when breaking the crop with the hoe in vanilla. The minimum fall damage height for trampling farmland is increased to 8 blocks.
Glow Berry: Sometimes you just need some extra sparkle in your life When eating a glow berry, you will temporarily receive the 'glow' effect
Grass: Your beautiful garden too dirty? Use bone meal on a grass block to spread grass blocks faster.
Iron Bars: Live your craziest fireman fantasies in Minecraft When falling down while being in the same block as freestanding Iron Bars or End Rods. Your falling speed will be minimized, and your fall damage neglected. Iron Bars have to be fully freestanding, they can't connect to any block horizontally. If you have already built up speed it will take some time before you slowed down enough. Meaning you will still take fall damage if you 'grab on' to the bars too late.
Ladder: Stuck on top of a cliff, or just want to save some space Right-click a ladder with ladders in your hand to expand the ladder downwards. Ladders don't need to have a support block behind them if there's a ladder hanging above them. If a ladder loses its support block, all ladders under it will also break
Lava: Sometimes you just don't want to mine, you know? When cobblestone, stone or obsidian would be generated with water and lava it may actually generate another block based on the environment. **Surface (y > 60),**
cobblestone and stone will generate based on the biome. * *In the desert,*
Sandstone will generate instead of cobblestone and smooth sandstone instead of stone * *In the badlands,*
Red sandstone will generate in place of cobblestone and stone is replaced by a mix of smooth red sandstone and terracotta: - 30% chance of Terracotta - 20% chance of Smooth Red Sandstone - 10% chance of Red, Orange, Brown, White and Yellow Terracotta each * *In mossy biomes (taiga, jungle etc.),*
Cobblestone will have a 25% chance of generating as mossy cobblestone **Between (y < 60),**
There is a 50/50 chance on either 'surface' or 'underground' generation. **Underground (y < 50),**
Stone has a 20% chance to generate for each andesite, diorite, or granite. **Under between (y < 10),**
There is a 50/50 chance on either 'underground' or 'deep' generation. **Deep (y < 0),**
Cobblestone will always generate as cobbled deepslate, and stone as deepslate. In the end, both cobblestone and stone generate as end stone. All 'environment generation' can be disabled by placing either cobblestone or stone under the position of the to be generated block. Obsidian has a 1/16 chance to generate as crying obsidian.
Path: "Damn it, wrong dirt block" You can turn path blocks back into dirt blocks by clicking on them with a shovel.
Purpur: Control the power of chorus fruit using redstone When powering a Purpur Block with redstone it will be able to be used as a short range elevator. When standing on a Purpur Block you can jump or sneak to travel up and down. Both the 'origin' and 'destination' Purpur Blocks need to be powered to work. The maximum distance between said Purpur Blocks is 16 blocks. The Purpur Blocks itself can be covered by a single bottom slab.
Rails: Build your journey When placing rails, you can keep placing to extend the rails into the direction you are looking. If a block is in the way, the rails will be placed on top of it to start going uphill.
Slime: Forget going to swamps or guessing where slime chunks are Right-click with a slime ball to figure out if the chunk you're in is a slime chunk. If it shows slime particles, you are currently in a slime chunk.
Tinted Glass: For a bit safer destruction Tinted Glass is now blast proof, making it useful for TNT-based farms or factories.
TNT: Explode items into their 'crushed' variants. Using TNT, you can blow up items to turn them into something else. - Sandstone -> 1-3 Sand - Red Sandstone -> 1-3 Red Sand - Cobblestone -> 1-3 Gravel - [Color] Concrete -> 1 [Color] Concrete Powder
