Solute - Vanilla Gameplay Enhancement
Solute mod was originally created as a set of small improvements for a personal SMP server, but gradually evolved into a full-fledged vanilla+ mod. It gently enhances the base game while maintaining compatibility with regular Minecraft clients.
All features are divided into independent modules that can be enabled and disabled directly in the game or through a configuration file.
Available Modules
Bed: Cinematic Nights
Instead of instantly transitioning to morning, time gradually accelerates, creating a smooth sunrise effect.
Bricks: Easy Aging
Use vines on blocks to create mossy versions (hold Shift for normal placement). Shears remove moss from blocks, a pickaxe creates cracked variants, and a clay ball restores the original appearance.
Cauldron: New Crafting Method
Added a "washing" mechanic for blocks in a water-filled cauldron. Concrete powder hardens, and dirt turns into mud.
Creeper: Building Protection
Disables block destruction from creeper explosions and ghast fireballs.
Farmland: Smart Harvesting
Using a hoe on a mature plant harvests it and surrounding crops. Seeds are automatically replanted. Harvest range depends on hoe level, and enchantments work as usual. Trampling damage height is increased to 8 blocks.
Glow Berries: Temporary Glow
Eating glow berries provides a temporary glow effect.
Grass: Fast Spreading
Bone meal on grass blocks accelerates grass growth.
Iron Bars: Fall Protection
Falling near freestanding iron bars or end rods slows speed and cancels fall damage. Bars must not connect to blocks on the sides. If speed is already gained, slowing down takes time.
Ladder: Convenient Construction
Right-clicking a ladder with ladders in hand extends it downward. Ladders don't require support blocks if there's another ladder above. If support is lost, all lower ladders break.
Lava: Biome-Based Block Generation
When generating cobblestone, stone, or obsidian from water and lava, the result depends on height and biome:
- On surface (y > 60): in desert creates sandstone, in badlands - red sandstone and terracotta, in mossy biomes - mossy cobblestone.
- Underground (y < 50): stone can turn into andesite, diorite, or granite.
- Deep underground (y < 0): cobblestone becomes cobbled deepslate, stone - deepslate.
- In the End: both blocks become end stone.
Obsidian has 1/16 chance to become crying obsidian. Generation can be disabled by placing cobblestone or stone under the generation position.
Path: Earth Restoration
A shovel turns path blocks back into dirt.
Purpur: Redstone Elevator
Redstone-activated purpur blocks work as short elevators. Jumping raises, crouching lowers. Both blocks must be powered, maximum distance - 16 blocks. Can be covered with a bottom slab.
Rails: Automatic Construction
When placing rails, they automatically continue in the direction you're looking. If a block is in the way, rails rise onto it.
Slime: Chunk Detection
Right-clicking with slime shows particles if the chunk is suitable for slime spawning.
Tinted Glass: Blast Resistance
Tinted glass is now explosion-proof, useful for TNT-based farms.
TNT: Item Crushing
TNT explosions transform:
- Sandstone → 1-3 sand
- Red sandstone → 1-3 red sand
- Cobblestone → 1-3 gravel
- Concrete → 1 concrete powder
