Sophisticated Storage - Smart Storage for Minecraft

The Sophisticated Storage mod completely transforms the storage system in Minecraft, offering multi-tier barrels, chests, and shulker boxes with extensive customization options and functional upgrades.

Main Storage Types

Barrels

Available in all standard Minecraft wood variants. Barrels can be upgraded through multiple tiers: copper, iron, gold, diamond, and netherite. Each new tier increases inventory capacity and the number of upgrade slots.

Limited Barrels

Special barrels with 1-4 slots but increased stack size. When upgrading limited barrels, the stack size capacity increases rather than adding more slots. Interact with them by right or left clicking the item on the front panel (hold Shift for full stacks).

Chests

Like barrels, chests progress through the same upgrade tiers: copper, iron, gold, diamond, and netherite. Each tier adds more inventory slots and upgrade slots.

Shulker Boxes

Portable storage can also be upgraded through all tiers. Shulker boxes allow instant item stashing via right-click, providing convenient inventory management on the go.

Storage Customization

All storage types support main and accent color customization. Barrels can be additionally decorated with materials from other blocks. High-tier limited barrels allow separate customization of inner accent material.

Decoration Table and Paintbrush

Decoration Table applies colors and materials to storage blocks:

• Select two colors in the interface and apply them to the block in the crafting slot
• Color picker allows precise shade selection
• 7 left slots apply materials to barrels
• Preview window shows customization results
• Saves resources compared to crafting recipes

Paintbrush applies colors and materials directly in the world:

• Configure the brush in the decoration table
• Right-click storage block to apply decoration
• Works with controllers for mass application
• Uses materials from player's inventory

Crafting Colored Storage

• Dyes in recipe combine like leather armor dyeing
• Dyes left of block affect main color
• Dyes right of block affect accent color
• Dyes in same column as block affect both colors
• Can add dyes to already colored blocks

Applying Barrel Materials

Materials applied through crafting table:

• Material left of barrel - on main parts
• Material right of barrel - on accent parts
• Material above or below - on both parts
• Additional slots for precise barrel element customization

Controller and Related Blocks

Controller

Combines multiple storage blocks into unified system:

• Blocks connect when placed adjacent to controller or connected blocks (up to 15 blocks)
• Additional connection methods via storage tool or link block
• Right-click with item places stack into connected storage
• Double right-click transfers all matching items from player inventory

Storage Link

Connects remote storage blocks:

• Place on any side of storage block
• Use storage tool to link with controller
• Automatically connects adjacent storage blocks
• Works only within 15-block radius from controller

Storage Tool

Multifunctional tool for system management:

Main functions:

• Works with individual blocks or entire system via controller
• Mode switching: Shift + scroll wheel

Operation modes:

• Linking: Connects blocks to controller
• Locking: Restricts item insertion via hoppers/pipes
• Visibility Toggle: Controls display of lock icons, counters, tiers, upgrades

Passive display: Shows hidden block properties when holding tool

Storage IO Blocks

Three specialized blocks for system interaction:

Storage Input:

• Item insertion only, no extraction
• Single slot for performance optimization

Storage Output:

• Item extraction only

Storage I/O:

• Full-featured block for insertion and extraction

IO blocks don't connect to adjacent storage blocks, enabling specialized configurations.

Tier Upgrades

• Allow upgrading storage blocks directly in the world
• Right-click tier upgrade on storage block
• Can upgrade one tier or skip multiple tiers at once

Functional Upgrades

Upgrades added via block interface or right-click in world. When holding upgrade, installed upgrades and empty slots are visible.
