SoundMuffler++

Are you annoyed by constant cow mooing, sheep bleating, or persistent nether portal noises? This mod offers an elegant solution for controlling the sound environment in your Minecraft world.
Core Functionality
SoundMuffler++ features a special block that can muffle or completely silence any nearby sounds. After placement, the block becomes active with a right-click, revealing a configuration interface. Here you can specify particular sounds to process and adjust volume levels from 0% to 100%.

All sound processing rules display in a scrollable list where each item can be selected and removed. Wildcard support is included: the parameter 'mob.*.say' shown in the screenshot will halve all mob vocalization sounds.
Sound Search and Categorization
With thousands of built-in sounds and additional mods, finding the right effects becomes challenging. The developer addressed this with a convenient categorized search system.

The interface organizes sounds into hierarchical structures: for example, 'mob.cow.say' appears as 'mob' category, 'cow' subcategory, and 'say' endpoint sound. Double-clicking allows navigation to categories or using them as templates, while actual sounds appear as red underlined text.

Portable Solution
However, blocks have limited range, which isn't always convenient. The solution comes in the form of magical earplugs - a special item that can be configured like the main block and used as headwear. Simply hold the item and press Shift+right-click to configure, then wear it in the helmet slot for persistent effect application.
