Spectral

What the Mod Adds

The Spectral mod introduces three unique items that open up new gameplay possibilities:
Spectral Dust is crafted from phantom membranes. It can be eaten to temporarily enter spectral state, or applied to a mob to make it spectral.
Spectral Goggles are a special headwear that allows the wearer to see and interact with spectral blocks and entities. To craft the goggles, you'll need spectral blocks, spectral dust, string, and iron ingots.
Spectral Block can be placed like a regular block, but it's only visible, tangible, and breakable by players and mobs in spectral state. Interestingly, this function works individually for each player - you might see spectral blocks while your friends don't notice them! The block is crafted from spectral dust and glass.
How the System Works
The core principle of Spectral is based on two states of entities: normal (non-spectral) and spectral. This is determined by the spectral_vision attribute (0 for normal state, 1 for spectral state).
Entities in normal state cannot see, attack, or collide with spectral entities, and also don't interact with spectral blocks. Spectral entities, in turn, cannot see or interact with normal entities, but fully contact other spectral objects.
Known Issues
- Spectral blocks may display incorrectly when optimization mods like Sodium are installed, which affect chunk rebuilding
- Shadows sometimes appear on top of spectral blocks even when the player is not in spectral state
