Starvation Ahoy
"Poor animals! How jealously they guard their bodies… that which to us is merely an evening's meal…"
- T. Casey Brennan
The world of Minecraft is full of nutritious plants, crops, and animals, but you suddenly realize you've been eating raw food your entire life. Plants have inedible dirt on them, and animals need to be processed and cooked to provide more food for your travels. The time has come to eat properly, but all this extra work makes you realize one thing — starvation is approaching.
This mod adds several new mechanics to Minecraft's food system: from washing crops to hanging and skinning animals. Although the idea might seem unpleasant at first, there is no gore here — it simply adds an additional layer to the game's existing system.
Meat Processing
Killing any mob that normally drops meat now results in that animal's carcass being dropped. Animals must be hung on a meat hook and skinned with a fillet knife, after which they can be chopped down with a butcher's knife. To complete the process (and get cooked meat), you need to build a spit roast (two spit roast stands two blocks apart, click with a stick) and place a skinned animal on it. After cooking, the animal will change color; if overcooked, it will burn. Cut the cooked animal with a butcher's knife to get your cooked meat!
Crop Cleaning
Plants are notorious for coming out of the ground with dirt. The fastest way to clean them is to create a wash barrel, fill it with water, and right-click on the crops. This will remove the dirt and give you healthier food.
Additional Features
The mod includes three additional components:
- Bad Brew — instantly reduces satiety level by 2
- Health Tracking Armor — allows displaying the restorative values of any food, as well as the player's current saturation level
- Command: /sa
- [new hunger value] [new saturation value] — allows the player to set food levels and transfer them to others (via a file created in the configs)
