Sturdy Farmland
The Sturdy Farmland mod fundamentally changes the behavior of farmland in Minecraft, making it more convenient for builders and adding new realistic mechanics. You can disable crop trampling, random block updates, or the conversion of farmland back to dirt.
This server-side mod (which works perfectly in single-player worlds too!) was created as part of the Dew Drop project but offers numerous customizable features for all players.
By default, farmland becomes resistant to trampling and allows solid blocks to be placed on it without risk of destruction. Random farmland updates are disabled - they behave as if the world's random tick speed is set to zero. This means water sources won't hydrate adjacent farmland, and the farmland itself won't revert back to dirt.
How to Water Plants Then?
Sturdy Farmland offers four alternative watering methods. You can now directly water farmland using a water bucket or water bottle. To water a small area all at once, use a splash potion of water. If none of these are available - just wait for rain!
For Realism Enthusiasts
If you're looking for a more immersive farming experience, this mod is still right for you! Inspired by Stardew Valley mechanics, the mod causes farmland to dry out overnight, so you'll need to water your plants every morning.
Configuration
Every mod feature can be enabled or disabled in the configuration. You can also change the effective radius of splash water potions, the probability of farmland reverting to dirt (if it happens at all), and the conditions under which this occurs. These settings work well with other server-side mods that allow weather control.
