Fryc's Parry (aka Sword Parry)
New Parrying and Blocking System
This mod completely changes the approach to defense in combat, allowing you to use various items to deflect attacks, not just a shield.
Basic Blocking Capabilities
Now you can use tools and weapons to protect against enemy strikes. To activate blocking, simply press a special key (default - R). While blocking, the character takes less damage, with protection effectiveness depending on the item used.
Parrying Mechanics
If you press the block button just before taking a hit, parrying is triggered:
- Completely neutralizes damage from attacks and projectiles
- When parrying melee attacks, knocks back and slows the enemy
- Explosions cannot be parried
Blocking Delay Features
Most items (except mace) start blocking immediately after pressing the button. Explosions are handled differently: for effective blocking, you need to hold defense for a certain time, otherwise effectiveness is reduced by 80%.
Cooldown System
The item enters cooldown state when blocking is interrupted, weapon is switched, or an attack is made. After successful parrying, recovery time is significantly reduced.
New Enchantments
The mod makes shields enchantable and adds three special enchantments:
- Reflex - reduces blocking delay or increases parrying window
- Counterattack - deals retaliatory damage to parried enemies (20-50% of your damage)
- Parry - enhances negative effects applied to opponents after deflecting attacks
Control Configuration
You can assign parrying to the right mouse button by unbinding the standard key. An option to completely disable blocking capability is also available.
Advanced Features
Through configuration files and datapacks, you can customize the list of items for parrying and individual characteristics of each, opening wide possibilities for gameplay customization.
