Tables & Chairs 2
The most aesthetically pleasing, stable, and optimized furniture set in datapack format. Originally inspired by Axel's Tables and Chairs project, this modification has been completely rewritten from scratch. It utilizes all modern datapack capabilities to create a full mod-like experience!
RESOURCE PACK REQUIRED (unless installed as a mod)
Although the datapack is in beta status, it's stable enough for use in main worlds. Only a few additional features remain in development.
Chair System
- Right click: sit on chair
- Double left click: destroy chair
- Shift + right click: rotate chair
- Shift + left click: move chair
To create decorative carpet covering, use right click with carpet in hand. To remove the covering, use shears or completely destroy the chair.
Table Functionality
Tables are custom blocks with intuitive mechanics.
When placing tables next to each other, they automatically connect into a single composition. To prevent connection, use placement with Shift held. To destroy a table, hold left mouse button on the tabletop with a proper tool until complete destruction.
Tip: Left click with an item in hand temporarily activates "edit mode". In this mode with Shift held, you can place blocks and items on the table surface as on a regular block.
Crafting Options
There's a huge variety of chairs available for crafting. Each type can be made from different wood types (oak, mangrove, acacia, and others) and enhanced with carpets in 16 different colors! The "carved" variant stands apart - it features a unique model for each wood type used.
In creative mode, use the /function tac:give/
command to select and obtain any furniture items. The mechanics work similarly to the standard /give command.
All excellent models were created by Axel // Chuckchuck (except for Pedestal Table, which is new in T&C2).
Differences from Original Version
The main development goal is simplification and removal of some complex elements from the original for better clarity and performance. For example, the Sawmill - a special furniture crafting station - was replaced with a regular crafting table. Candles, trophies, and decorations are temporarily excluded but may return in a separate datapack. The Hammer system is planned for addition before exiting beta stage.
Datapack Advantages
Unlike traditional mods, furniture elements remain in the world through all future updates when the resource pack is active. This is achieved through use of standard game features that cannot be overwritten, ensuring safety for use in main survival worlds and preservation of builds for the future.
Removal and Updating
The datapack removal procedure is maximally simplified for safe use in main worlds. Conversion of content from Axel's Tables & Chairs to Tables & Chairs 2 and transformation of existing furniture into block equivalents is also provided.
/function tac:config
Enter this command to view available conversion modes.
For older versions, /function tac:xxx/
with manual option selection may be required.
