/tank/null - Your Ultimate Fluid Management Companion
Ever dreamed of a bucket that won't let you down? Wanted a container capable of holding multiple fluid types simultaneously? Your search ends here - this modification was crafted specifically for you!
Inspired by the /dev/null concept, this hybrid portable tank and storage system can collect fluids, automatically remove excess, and even automatically gather surrounding liquids when carried in the main hand.
Capabilities
Precise Fluid Placement - significantly reduces accidental waste
Before: carefully placing fluids without overflow is nearly impossible with a standard bucket
After: tank in bucket empty mode easily places fluids without losses
Tier System - features 7 tank tiers where each subsequent level offers increased capacity and volume:
For version 1.20+:
- Tier 1: 9 tanks of 4000 mB each
- Tier 2: 18 tanks of 16000 mB each
- Tier 3: 27 tanks of 64000 mB each
- Tier 4: 36 tanks of 256000 mB each
- Tier 5: 45 tanks of 1024000 mB each
- Tier 6: 54 tanks of 4096000 mB each
- Tier 7: 81 tanks of 247483647 mB each
For version 1.16 and below:
- Tier 1: 3 tanks of 4000 mB each
- Tier 2: 6 tanks of 16000 mB each
- Tier 3: 9 tanks of 64000 mB each
- Tier 4: 12 tanks of 256000 mB each
- Tier 5: 15 tanks of 1024000 mB each
- Tier 6: 18 tanks of 4096000 mB each
- Tier 7: 27 tanks of 247483647 mB each
Technical Features:
- Fluid inventories are stored in the save file rather than on the item itself, eliminating potential fluid duplication or deletion errors
Operation Modes
The tank features 3 modes, cycled using the mode switch key (default: i):
Bag - enables interface opening like a backpack and fluid management Bucket Fill - for collecting fluids in the world, the number of buckets collected at once can be configured through the interface Bucket Empty - places fluids in the world (when possible) like a regular block, avoiding placement within existing fluid blocks
Holding Alt + right-clicking in bucket modes opens the graphical interface.
Graphical Interface
Fluids can be added or removed from interface slots using any fluid containers, such as buckets.
Alt + clicking any slot with fluid locks it, indicated by a red border. Slot locking prevents it from being occupied by another fluid, even when completely emptied. If a slot is empty but locked, "Locked" will be displayed.
Bucket Size - controls the number of buckets collected in bucket fill mode Sort - for organizing fluid slots, the sorting type can be configured via the tank configuration button
Tools
Wrench - for configuring advanced parameters:
- Sort Mode - changes fluid sorting method
- Auto Sort - determines whether the fluid system should automatically sort after each inventory change
Note: the modification was completely rewritten for version 1.20.1, some features differ from the 1.16 version, but the core concept remains unchanged.
