Minecraft Version Compatibility
Templates 2 mod is available for the following game versions:
- 1.21.1 - Fabric
- 1.20.1 - Fabric
- 1.20.4 - Fabric (low priority support)
What is Templates 2?
This mod adds special template blocks to Minecraft that can be retextured. Simply place a template and right-click it with any full-size block in hand - the template will instantly take on the appearance of that block.
With Templates 2, you can create unique constructions: custom fences, walls, stairs, slabs, trapdoors, levers, buttons, candles, TNT, and much more.
Additional Features
Template blocks have extended functionality:
- Glowing blocks - use glowstone dust to make the block emit light
- Redstone sources - apply a redstone torch to create a block that transmits redstone signal
- Invisible barriers - use popped chorus fruit to make the block non-solid
Technical Features
Templates 2 continues the tradition of mods like "Carpenter's Blocks" and "Framed Blocks", offering a modern implementation of this concept. The mod is designed with compatibility in mind - other developers can easily integrate their blocks with the template system.
New in version 2.2.0: support for connected textures! Tested with Chisel Reborn, but works with any mods that implement FabricBlock#getAppearance.
Important Technical Requirements
⚠ Templates 2 was originally conceived as a demonstration of Fabric Rendering API capabilities. A compatible renderer is required for the mod to work. Fabric API includes an implementation called Indigo, but it is incompatible with Sodium. If you use Sodium, you will need to install an additional mod, such as Indium, for Templates 2 to function properly.
