The Afterdark

Compatibility and Recommendations
The mod is available for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge. For better performance and gameplay, it is recommended to use Noisium and/or C2ME together with The Afterdark.
About the Modification
The Afterdark presents a complex and dangerous dimension 384 blocks high, immersed in eternal darkness. This space offers huge resource deposits, but extracting them will have to be done under challenging conditions. Some materials can only be found in specific Afterdark biomes or in dungeons. Complex world generation makes the journey difficult but exciting and worth the effort.
Although we continue to work on biome diversity, 8 unique biomes are already available that perfectly convey the atmosphere of deep darkness. You can familiarize yourself with them in the gallery section.
How to Get to Afterdark?
While exploring the world, you may discover a new structure near the Ancient City. A strange portal pulsates around it, requiring a special crystal for activation. These crystals might have been left by mages many years ago in nearby chests. When using the crystal on the portal, you will be transported to Afterdark, where your true hardcore adventure begins.
A return portal is not created automatically. To return, you need to find the Darkest City and use a similar portal structure there or find another way to leave the dimension (perhaps other dimensions can help you with this?).

Frequently Asked Questions
Question: Do you plan to update the mod to version 1.x?
Answer: If the next major update doesn't completely break the world generation system, then probably yes. Otherwise, we might stay on a specific version for a while, providing bug fixes and new features while studying the changes. Currently, we plan to support at least versions 1.20.1 and 1.21.1 once the main features become stable and playable. If you want to contribute to the project, you can submit a pull request.
Question: Is the mod compatible with Terralith, Geophilic and other world generation mods?
Answer: In most cases, yes. There shouldn't be any problems since these biomes are located in a separate dimension and don't modify the Overworld, Nether or other dimensions.
Question: I want to add compatibility with The Afterdark! How can I do this?
Answer: We're still working on the dimension, but you can use the #the_afterdark:afterdark_biomes tag if you want to allow structure generation in this dimension. If you need to add something complex and require help with mod integration with The Afterdark, create an issue and we'll try to help.
