The Beneath
Note: The "grue" mode requires installation of the Grue mod. Make sure you install it together with The Beneath if you plan to use this mode!
Mod Overview
The Beneath is a massive expansion that adds a new resource mining dimension to Minecraft. Originally created as an alternative to the Deep Dark dimension from Extra Utilities (which hadn't been ported to version 1.10.2 at the time), this dimension offers enhanced mining opportunities and high customization capabilities.
Teleportation to the dimension is carried out using a special teleporter block, whose crafting recipe can be configured through the configuration file. You can also use alternative crafting systems such as CraftTweaker.
Key Features
-
Massive mining dimension - imagine the ceiling of the Nether raised to 256 blocks, with another Nether placed in the freed space - that's the scale this dimension reaches
-
Enhanced monsters - all creatures spawning in the dimension (including standard mobs and beings from other mods) have doubled health and deal twice as much damage
-
Interdimensional teleportation - ability to configure teleportation between The Beneath dimension and other worlds, not just the Overworld
-
Built-in ore generation system - JSON-based mechanism that generates a configuration file on first launch. The system can be disabled when using other mods for resource generation
-
Various operation modes (require restart to apply changes):
- "grue" - Grues spawn in dark areas when you've been exposed to darkness long enough
- "darkness" - being in darkness deals damage (damage intensity and attack intervals can be configured)
- "none" - disables darkness damage
-
Extensive generation settings - ability to adjust dungeon frequency and completely disable their generation
-
Dangerous shadows - mysterious beings in the darkness capable of pulling you out of safe zones and leaving you vulnerable to other dangers
-
Atmospheric sounds - eerie sound effects you'll occasionally hear while exploring the dimension
