The Lost Cities

Abandoned Cities

The Lost Cities mod completely transforms the standard Minecraft world, replacing it with vast ruins of an ancient metropolis. When creating a new world, you can select the "Lost Cities" generation type and find yourself in a massive ruined city that covers the entire world surface.

Explore expansive urban landscapes: extensive highways, bridges, tunnels, underground subway systems, as well as numerous dungeons with spawners and valuable loot. The mod offers various preset generation settings (profiles) allowing you to customize the appearance and structure of cities to your preference.

The configuration system provides extensive customization options: you can add your own buildings, blocks, control city generation parameters, and much more. Detailed configuration documentation is available on the official mod wiki.

Compatibility and Installation

The mod can be used server-side only, allowing clients with vanilla game versions to connect without installed mods.

For Version 1.21

In version 1.21, the location of server configuration files has changed. They are now located in the standard configuration directory. To select a generation profile, you need to change the 'selectedProfile' value in server settings (this profile is also used by default in single player). The 'selectedCustomJson' parameter allows you to set specific settings.

For Versions 1.14-1.20

Starting from version 1.14, The Lost Cities is no longer a separate world type. This means you can use the mod in combination with other world modifications such as Biomes O' Plenty or Wild Nature. To activate, select the world customization option after choosing a world type and press the 'LC' button in the upper right corner. In the opened configuration window, you can enable city generation and customize various aspects of their creation.

For flexible mod configuration on a server, it's recommended to first create a world in single player, configure parameters through the LC interface, generate the world, and then copy the lostcities-server.toml file from the saves/<your_world>/serverconfig directory to the defaultconfigs folder on the server.

For Version 1.12

For server use, you need to specify 'lostcities' as the level type in the server.properties file.

The mod also adds a separate dimension (default ID 111) that you can travel to. This dimension can be disabled, which is useful when using with clients without mods. To travel between dimensions, you need to place a bed on two diamond blocks and surround it with six skulls, then attempt to sleep.

With Biomes O' Plenty mod present, the 'lostcities_bop' variant is available for servers, which uses biomes from this mod.

To select a specific profile on the server, add to server-properties: generator-settings={"profile":"nodamage"}
