The Masquerade (Illager Boss)
This mod introduces a new powerful boss from the world of villains - the Masquerader, who changes his masks, each granting him unique abilities and attacks.
Invitation to the Ball
In pillager outposts and woodland mansions, you can sometimes find a mysterious red envelope. This is an invitation from the Masquerader - a villain organizing a social event for other high-ranking villains. Open the envelope to receive an invitation to a masquerade ball and a map leading to the venue.
Note: When opening the envelope, the game may freeze for a few seconds - this is related to map generation.
Masquerade Ball
Arriving "fashionably" late to the ball, you'll find yourself in a huge ballroom filled with invited villains and one unlucky villager whose mask currently hides his identity. The Masquerader watches from above, remaining invulnerable as long as the other villains are alive. To fight him, you first need to deal with the guests.
The Masquerader and His Masks
The boss uses various masks, each based on a specific type of villain:
No Mask: In this phase, the Masquerader only runs after you with a sword. But when his health decreases, the real fun begins...
Evocation Mask:
- Summons 15 ghosts with 2 health points
- Creates spikes in four different patterns: concentric circles around himself, circles around the target, lines, and rapid attack directly on the target
Displacement Mask:
- Creates 9 of his clones that surround the player and shoot with bows
- After the clones disappear, creates four mirror reflections that cannot be hit
- Applies temporary blindness to the target
- Shoots fireworks instead of arrows in triple volleys
Fury Mask:
- Roars and rushes forward in a straight line, knocking back and setting on fire everyone in the path
- Fires five volleys of five burning arrows from a crossbow
- Attacks with an axe in close combat
Magic Mask:
- Creates a rain of potions around himself
- Throws potions at the target with various weakening effects
- Drinks regeneration and resistance potion when putting on the mask
- Periodically restores health with additional potions
Loot
After victory, the Masquerader panics and escapes, leaving behind emeralds and a blank mask. Using certain materials and magic, this mask can be turned into one of the four boss masks:
Evocation Mask: Right-click on the ground creates a line of spikes (cooldown 2 sec)
Displacement Mask: Right-click in the air teleports a significant distance horizontally (cooldown 10 sec)
Fury Mask: Right-click in the air emits a roar that knocks back nearby mobs and gives strength and resistance for a short time (cooldown 15 sec)
Magic Mask: Right-click in the air gives a beneficial effect: fire resistance when burning, water breathing in water, regeneration when low on health, or speed in other cases (cooldown 30 sec)
New Ally?
If the masked villager managed to survive the battle, you can trade with him. He will exchange any of the four special masks back for a blank mask for a small fee.
Appearance in Raids
If the Masquerader participates in a raid, he receives a force field that makes him invulnerable until all other raiders are destroyed. Fans of the Illage and Spillage mod will recognize this system - it's completely borrowed from there.
