Thin Air
The Thin Air mod fundamentally changes the breathing mechanics in Minecraft, turning cave exploration and mountain climbing into a genuine struggle for survival. The further you move away from sea level, the harder it becomes to breathe, creating new challenges for experienced players.
Main Features
Dangerous Heights and Depths At altitudes above Y=128 and below sea level (Y=0), your character gradually loses air. The Nether dimension becomes especially dangerous, where oxygen deficiency is most acute. And in the End, there's no air at all!
Protective Equipment To survive in extreme conditions, you'll need special equipment. Potion of Free Breathing (formerly known as Water Breathing), respirators, and air bladders will help protect against suffocation.
Safe Zones Create pockets of safety using soul torches, soul campfires, or soul fire. You can also restore your lungs by using a bottle of soulfire.
Air Indicators Safety lanterns change color in your inventory and in the world, showing the air quality around you. They can also be dyed for decorative purposes.
New Dangers Drowned can now suck air from your lungs when attacking, making encounters with them even more dangerous.
Additional Features Right-clicking a torch makes it emit particles - a great way to mark the exit from a cave!
