Tombenpotter's Icarus
Have you ever dreamed of exploring the vast expanses of the Minecraft world but found existing flight methods too simple and predictable? With the Icarus mod, everything changes dramatically! Now flying requires real effort, making the process much more engaging and realistic.
The uniqueness of these wings lies not only in their appearance but also in a completely new approach to flight mechanics. Instead of the usual free gliding, you get a dynamic system that requires skill and preparation.
How to Use the Wings
To activate the wings, you need to equip them in the chestplate slot. Don't worry - they provide protection like regular armor. After equipping, pressing the jump key will launch you into the air. To continue gaining altitude, you need to keep jumping, simulating wing flaps.
Each flap requires significant energy expenditure, so before long flights, be sure to stock up on food. If you stop jumping, you will begin to descend slowly at a speed depending on your wings' characteristics.
Mechanics Features
Keep an eye on the interface - even with slow descent, fall damage can accumulate. Also remember altitude limitations: during daytime, exceeding a certain height will cause you to take damage from solar heat.
Be especially careful with water contact. Wet wings become heavier, depriving you of the ability to gain altitude and causing you to fall rapidly. All these parameters depend on the specific wings' characteristics.
Don't forget basic physics laws: during thunderstorms, any object in the air attracts lightning. Be careful not to become a victim of a lightning strike!
Compatibility and Improvements
One of the key features is the ability to combine wings with chestplates. With such a combination, both wings and armor are displayed, with the wings inheriting the protective properties and special abilities of the armor.
Combination Examples:
Diamond Armor:
Thaumcraft:
Botania:
Witchery:
Enchantments
Wings can be improved with special enchantments:
- Flight Boost - increases ascent height
- Hover - improves hovering ability
- Waterproof - protects from getting wet (but excessive protection may cause uncontrolled ascent during rain)
Settings and Compatibility
The mod offers extensive configuration options. You can specify dimensions where wings won't overheat (The End is added by default), or dimensions where they won't function at all.
Settings allow you to choose hovering mode (automatic or by pressing the M key), configure interface display and wing statistics. You can also disable compatibility with specific mods through the configuration file.
