Tomes - Spellcasting Modification for Minecraft
Dreamed of magic in Minecraft? Now your wishes come true! The Tomes mod adds a spellcasting system to the game through special tomes that can be crafted and enhanced.
Tome Creation and Spells
To create tomes, you'll need special hearts that drop from mobs: archaic heart from zombies, beating heart from villagers and pillagers, sweet heart from witches. Each tome has a unique set of abilities.
Enchanting a tome imbues it with magical properties. Active spells can only be obtained through level 30 enchantment, so stock up on bookshelves! After enchanting, the tome will open in your hand. Each use of an active spell consumes tome durability, which can be restored using the corresponding heart.
Tome Types and Their Abilities
Active Spells
Archaic Tome:
- Self Propulsion: Launches player 10 blocks upward with additional boost from jumping
- Force of Wind: Pushes mobs away in the direction you're looking
- Strike From Above: Summons lightning at target from long distance
- Everchanging Skies: Toggles weather between clear and rainy
Living Tome:
- Lifebringer: Accelerates plant growth and stimulates animal breeding
- Beast Tamer: Tames animals and regular spiders
- Wild Aid: Summons wolf companion for 2 minutes
- Molding Lands: Transforms landscape into mushroom biome
Cursed Tome:
- Mind Bender: Calms mobs and makes them follow you
- Ghostly Steed: Summons skeleton horse for travel
- Withering Stench: Deals damage and applies wither effect
- Dark Age: Sets time to night
Passive Abilities
Archaic Tome:
- Dying Knowledge: Increases experience gain by 1.5x
- Linguist: Shows exact list of available enchantments
- Airy Protection: Reflects projectiles with 50% chance
Living Tome:
- Nurturing Roots: Slows hunger depletion on grass
- Advantageous Growth: Doubles crop yield
- Forest Affinity: Grants regeneration and resistance in forest biomes
Cursed Tome:
- Rotten Heart: Makes hostile mobs passive but weakens regeneration
- Nocturnal: Grants night vision, strength and speed at night
- Coven's Rule: Allows trading with witches for rare items
Rare spells available only as loot or through witch trading
Crafting Recipes

Mod configuration allows adjusting heart drop chances, cooldown times and spell costs through the configuration file.
