ToroChess

Immerse yourself in the world of chess right in Minecraft with the ToroChess modification! This unique project allows you to play classical chess, fully adapted to the sandbox game mechanics. All pieces are presented as standard game entities that move and attack like regular mobs. The game board can be customized and rebuilt according to your preferences, seamlessly fitting into architectural projects.

Central Control Block

The special control block serves as the main element of the entire chess system. Meanwhile, the actual game board is formed from regular blocks that can be replaced with any others of your choice.

Initial placement of the control block automatically creates a standard chess board framed with quartz blocks and stairs. These decorative elements can be removed if desired. Immediately after creation, all pieces appear and take their starting positions. The special control wands needed for gameplay appear in chests at the edges of the board along with a brief management guide.

To reset or clear the game field, you need to access the central control block located under the center of the board. Interacting with it opens an interface allowing you to perform these operations. The block can be mined and moved to a more convenient location, and it is not destroyed during dismantling - it simply stops generating a new board when placed again.

All game information is stored in the control block. To completely remove the chess system, simply remove the block itself and the board.

Crafting Recipes

You can create chess boards from various materials:

Permitted materials for light and dark squares:

• Quartz
• Stone, stone bricks and cobblestone
• Bone block
• Coal block
• Nether bricks
• Melon
• Sandstone

If your desired material is not in the list, you can always manually replace individual board blocks with any others. The main thing is to preserve the original cell arrangement and use solid blocks so pieces can move across them.

Gameplay

Each side receives four control wands for managing their pieces. You can keep all wands for yourself or share with teammates. Lost wands cannot be restored without crafting a new control block.

Basic control: While holding a wand in your main hand, right-click your piece to select it, then click the target square or enemy piece to make a move. Wands work at significant distances, allowing you to build observation platforms in survival mode or fly freely in creative mode.

Castling: To perform this move, select the king, then hold Shift and click the corresponding rook. Castling is only possible under classical rules: the king and rook haven't moved before, there are no pieces between them, and the king doesn't pass through attacked squares.

Pawn promotion: When reaching the opposite edge of the board, pawns automatically transform into queens.
