Tough Beginnings

The Tough Beginnings modification significantly complicates the early stages of the game, making the process of obtaining wood, stone, and creating tools more challenging and realistic.
New Resource Gathering System
Instead of the usual tree punching with bare hands, you'll need to start by mining gravel. When breaking gravel, you obtain raw flint, which is useless in its current form. To turn it into a working tool, you must sharpen the flint by striking it against a stone block. This process isn't always successful - sometimes instead of solid flint you get shards that can be combined back into a gravel block.
Creating First Tools
Once you obtain quality flint, you can create a flint knife. This tool opens new possibilities - with it you can gather fibers from vegetation, which are then turned into sturdy rope. Combining flint and rope, you create a flint axe - your first serious tool for obtaining wood.
Enhanced Wood Processing

With the flint axe, you can finally obtain logs, but regular wooden planks are no longer suitable for creating tools. The new process requires:
- Carving wooden blocks using a knife (hold the knife in your main hand and the log/plank in your off-hand)
- Creating a fiber pile from 7 fiber units
- Placing the pile in the world and igniting fire with friction using a stick
- Processing wooden blocks in the flame to obtain tough wood
(Example of new materials required for wooden tools. Instead of regular planks, tough wood blocks are now required)
Changes in Stone Mining

Stone has also undergone changes - when broken, it no longer drops as full blocks but gives rocks that can be combined to restore the original block. These rocks are used in recipes for creating stone tools, opening the path to the stone age.
