Unearthed Journey - Travel to the Cenozoic Era

Unearthed Journey is a massive mod that adds three complete dimensions dedicated to the Cenozoic Era! Explore a world inhabited by thirty species of prehistoric animals with detailed models, discover four unique wood types, mine two new ores, and face an epic boss.

Each dimension is divided into special zones called Formations. They replace standard biomes and recreate ancient habitats as accurately as possible. All vegetation, animals, and structures in these regions correspond to their historical prototypes, offering players a unique immersion into the prehistoric world!

How to Begin Time Travel

First, find the Temple of Methuselah. This structure can only be found in jungle biomes, often a significant distance from the spawn point. We recommend installing the Nature's Compass mod to simplify the search, though it's not mandatory.

Inside the temple, you'll find numerous chambers with dangerous monsters and mid-level loot. They lead to a boss chamber where...

Methuselah - Guardian of Time

This incredibly difficult battle will challenge even experienced players. Don't fight Methuselah without quality diamond armor and weapons, including powerful ranged weapons. Defeating it gives you an important artifact - the Eye of Methuselah, necessary for further adventures.

Forgotten Portals

Throughout the Overworld, you'll discover Forgotten Portals containing valuable treasures and materials for time travel. Each portal includes keystone blocks that determine the destination dimension. Portal fragments can be found in these structures or in temple chests.

To activate, assemble the portal with matching keystones and build the foundation with archstone pillars. Use the Eye of Methuselah to open a passage to the past.

Useful Tips

We strongly recommend using JEI when playing with Unearthed Journey. Many items and blocks require special recipes, and some game mechanics are not accessible through JEI and are explained below.

Peat - Energy Source

In the Paleogene and Neogene dimensions, mine peat similar to clay. Collected peat clumps can be made into decorative blocks or baked into a Peat Pie. When placed on the ground, a twenty-minute timer begins, after which the pie becomes Dried Peat Pie - incredibly efficient fuel for furnaces.

Lead

An unusual ore mined in all three Cenozoic dimensions. Primarily used for decoration, all lead blocks possess exceptional blast resistance.

Manganese Steel

Rare deposits of raw manganese are found only in the Pleistocene dimension. For smelting, create a Manganese Steel Blend from raw iron, manganese, and silicate (obtained from chert - a white stone from the Pleistocene and Neogene).

Manganese steel can be crafted into armor that protects against cold, a Backpack that increases inventory space, and a Rock Pick for fast mining of obsidian and archstone.

Platypodium Seed Pods

Platypodium leaves from the Neogene dimension frequently drop these pods. Place them on the ground to instantly grow small platypodium trees - a quick way to obtain logs without destroying foliage (in this mod, leaves don't decay naturally).

Taming Pouches

Small mammals often drop pelts, which combine with grass or seeds to create taming pouches. Use them to breed herbivorous animals or tame...

Leptictidium

The only tameable creature in the mod. These trunk-nosed creatures from the Messel Pit Formation (Paleogene) are easily persuaded with seed pouches.

Tamed individuals obey the sit command when right-clicked. Holding Shift and right-clicking makes the leptictidium dig in the ground, producing useful (or useless) items. The ability recharges every two minutes.
