Unkindled
The Unkindled modification fundamentally changes how furnaces operate in Minecraft. They no longer start smelting items automatically - players must manually ignite them using flint and steel or fire charges (while sneaking during use).
Interestingly, furnaces will continue to operate as long as there is fuel available. The modification also affects campfires: all newly placed campfires appear unlit.
Important: this mod doesn't add any early-game fire starters!
Automation
Dispensers gain new functionality - they can automatically ignite furnaces when equipped with flint and steel.
Configuration
The mod is controlled using tags for blocks and items:
Requires Igniting (Blocks)
unkindled:needs_igniting
Blocks in this list need to be manually ignited. By default includes all standard furnaces and campfires.
Any campfires or furnaces added to this tag that inherit from standard ones will work without additional configuration.
Self-Igniting Fuel (Items)
unkindled:self_igniting_fuel
Items from this list don't require manual ignition. By default this includes lava buckets and blaze rods.
Compatibility
While the mod technically isn't required on the client, some minor visual artifacts may occur without it. It's recommended to install Unkindled on both server and client.
