Burning Time
Regular and soul campfires burn for 2000 ticks (individually configurable), after which they extinguish on their own. This feature can be disabled.
Extinguishing by Rain
Campfires extinguish in rain (configurable). For soul campfires, this option can also be enabled (disabled by default).
Campfire Destruction
Can be configured to automatically destroy campfires after they extinguish on their own (individual setting, disabled by default).
Adding Combustible Items
By throwing combustible items (logs, sticks, coal, etc.) into a burning campfire, you can extend its burning time (enabled by default).

By using magma cream on a burning campfire, you can make its burning infinite (item tag: "unlitcampfire:makes_campfire_infinite").
Generated Campfires
Campfires created during world generation burn infinitely by default (configurable).
