Vanilla Refresh
Vanilla Refresh is a Minecraft expansion that introduces numerous small improvements to gameplay, immersion, creative mode, multiplayer, and other aspects of the game. All features are designed to preserve the vanilla spirit of Minecraft while making the game more convenient and engaging.
Settings
You can enable and disable features through the settings menu using the command /function vanilla_refresh:_settings
in chat.
For versions 1.21.6+, it is recommended to install a mod that disables command confirmation in the settings menu: GitHub link.
Main Features
The mod includes over 30 features, and the list continues to grow. Any of them can be disabled or enabled at any time via the settings menu.
Player Sitting
Sit anywhere by looking straight down, crouching, and right-clicking. The hand slot must be empty.
Mob Health Display
The health of nearby mobs is displayed above the hotbar.
Day Counter
Counts the days on the server and displays them at the start of each day, as well as when first joining. On milestone days (e.g., day 100), a special animation plays.
Homing Experience Orbs
Experience orbs from killed mobs fly straight to you, even if you are far away.
Crafting Sounds
When crafting items, a wooden crafting sound plays along with light particle effects. The sound can vary depending on the item type (tools, beacons, etc.).
Crop Experience
When harvesting crops (wheat, pumpkins, nether wart, etc.), there is a chance to receive a bit of experience.
Jukebox Music Override
Music from a jukebox stops and overrides the currently playing Minecraft background music.
Improved Loyalty Tridents
Tridents with the Loyalty enchantment do not disappear into the void but return to you.
Modified Baby Zombies
Baby zombies have half the health but can now sometimes sprint jump. A critical hit with a diamond or netherite sword kills them in one hit.
Enhanced Death Sound
An improved sound effect plays upon death, corresponding to the cause of death. Can be set to a specific sound.
Enhanced Armor Stands
Armor stands now have arms and various poses. Use a lever nearby to change the pose. Add an item and click the stand with a tripwire hook to turn it into a tool rack.
Extendable Ladders
Press Shift on a ladder to extend it downward and create hanging ladders for descent.
Totem in the Void
Falling into the void with a totem in hand enters you into a controllable levitation mode until you reach land.
Player Head Drop
Upon death, your player head drops and can be placed as a reminder of your misfortune.
Echo Shard Silence
Drop an echo shard on a mob to silence it. Retrieve the shard by pouring water on the mob or killing it directly.
Time Offset
The Minecraft day now starts at 1 instead of 0. In existing worlds, +1 day is added to the current day.
Wither Head Drop
After defeating the Wither, its head drops as a trophy.
Wearable Banners
To wear a banner, triple-press Shift while holding it. The head slot must be empty.
Improved Player Animations
New animations for leveling up and falling into water from different heights.
Custom Block Animations
Enhanced animations for enchanting tables, brewing stands, beacons, wither skeleton skulls, dragon eggs, and jukeboxes.
Subtitles for Major Events
Dramatic titles appear on screen when summoning the Wither or entering the End.
Subtitles for Biome Discovery
When discovering a new biome, its name is displayed on screen.
Armored Piglins with Trimmed Armor
Armored piglins can spawn with trimmed armor pieces. The chance is higher in bastions.
Global Death Sound
A sound effect plays globally to all players upon your death. Can be set to a specific sound.
Spectator Ghost
Players in spectator mode are visible to others as white particles.
Griefing Rules
In the settings menu, you can enable or disable TNT.
Low Health Sound
A heartbeat sound plays once when taking damage at low health.
Enhanced Lodestones (for versions below 1.21.5!)
Lodestones gain new functions: name a lodestone by dropping named paper on it; create an instant waypoint by dropping an ender pearl; the lodestone's color affects the teleport indicator.
Path Sprinting
Paths now grant speed, encouraging their use in towns.
Invisible Stands and Frames
Throw an invisibility potion on an armor stand or item frame to make it invisible. Restore visibility with a splash water bottle.
Recovery Compass Coordinates
The recovery compass now shows the coordinates and dimension where you died.
Readable Clocks
Holding a clock shows the current day and time. Place it in a frame to see the time without holding it.
Party Cake
Drop a firework on a cake to make it explode with confetti when eaten (no damage).
Creative Mode
Enhanced Spectator Mode
Upon entering spectator mode, you gain access to actions: teleport to spawn, random player, reappear, night vision.
Wands
Various wands for server operators: freeze and pose mobs, filter, quick teleport. Access via /function vanilla_refresh:_x_wands
. Mobs with the refresh_exclude_wand
tag are not editable with wands.
