Volumetric Flask

Volumetric Flask is an addon for Applied Energistics 2 that specializes in fluid-based auto crafting automation. This modification introduces various volumetric flasks of different capacities and auxiliary blocks for efficient fluid handling within the ME system.

Flasks of various volumes

New Volume Measurement Flasks

The mod adds 16 different volumetric flask variants with varying capacities: 16, 32, 18, 36, 72, 144, 50, 100, 250, 1000, 2000, 4000, 8000, 16000, 32000, and 64000 mB. These containers function similarly to standard buckets but with a crucial advantage - they can be stacked up to 64 items. Flasks can be filled and emptied by simply right-clicking on a tank.

Filling flasks

Like regular buckets, volumetric flasks can either be completely filled with fluid or left empty.

Fluid Handling Interface

The Volumetric Interface mechanism possesses all standard functions of a regular ME Interface, including item acceptance and import into the ME network, as well as export according to encoded patterns. A panel version is also available for space efficiency.

Interface appearance

The key feature is that when working with patterns containing filled volumetric flasks, the interface transmits the fluid directly from the flask to the target machine, while keeping the empty flask in its internal inventory for subsequent return to the ME network.

Practical Application

Automating TNT production in GregTech Community Edition demonstrates the power of this system. Configuration involves creating an encoded pattern, placing a Basic Chemical Reactor next to the interface, and setting up automatic output to the interface.

TNT automation

Similarly, the process of obtaining Destabilized Redstone can be automated using a Basic Fluid Extractor.

Automatic Filler

The Filler block serves as a specialized tool for automatically filling volumetric flasks with fluids from the ME network. When a filled flask is requested, it automatically takes an empty flask from the network and fills it with the required fluid.

Filler operation example

The filler operates with priority -1, meaning the system will primarily use other available recipes through interfaces, and only turn to the filler when those are unavailable.

Buffer Block

Buffer represents a multifunctional block with an inventory of 9 stacks and nine tanks of 64000 mB each. It automatically pushes items and fluids into adjacent blocks, excluding various ME interface types.

Buffer appearance

To view the buffer's contents, mods like The One Probe are required, as the block lacks its own interaction interface.

Buffer Usage Example

Automating Red Alloy Ingot production in a GregTech blast furnace demonstrates the efficiency of the buffer system when combined with Ender IO conduits for coordinating material transfer between various system components.

Technical Features

It's important to note that this modification addresses automation challenges for recipes involving fluids as INPUT in processes. For automating recipes with fluids as OUTPUT, additional methods and workarounds may be necessary.

The system provides basic recipes for new items and blocks, allowing modpack creators to freely customize them according to their needs.
