WarpDrive - Space Travel Modification

WarpDrive introduces advanced science fiction technologies to Minecraft, turning your dreams of space exploration into reality. Main usage areas include resource extraction in asteroid fields, transporting teams and entire bases across dimensions, and thrilling space battles using laser cannons and other weapon systems.

Space adventures await you!

Here's what the modification offers for exploring the endless universe:

Create your own spaceships - construct vessels of any configuration from available blocks (except bedrock) and embark on cosmic expeditions.

Explore the space dimension - navigate through asteroid fields rich in mineral deposits, gaseous clouds, planetoids, star systems, and encounter non-player character ships.

Faster-than-light travel - utilize hyperspace for incredibly fast travel over enormous distances!

Combat laser systems - equip your ship with powerful laser cannons for combat operations, resource extraction, and achieving superiority!

Force fields - surround your territories with impenetrable force fields for reliable protection from enemy attacks!

Cloaking systems - hide your ships, bases, and space stations from detection by enemies!

Energy reactor - power your ship and its systems with an efficient enantiomorphic reactor.

Transportation systems - teleport crew members to planetary surfaces or deploy boarding parties onto enemy vessels!

Added capabilities

Transporter room

Since version 1.3.39, a multi-block transporter room assembly with upgrades and additional features has been available.

Modular force fields

Starting from version 1.3.26, the force field system has been integrated into the modification, usable for protecting ships, bases, and space stations. The code was written from scratch with inspiration from Imalune's & Calclavia's Modular Forcefield System and Immibis' Advanced Repulsion System. Both RF and EU power systems are supported. Three tiers and numerous upgrades are available.

Force fields interact with blocks, entities, lasers, and explosives from other modifications, including electromagnetic pulses from DefenseTech and ICBM Classic.

Ship rotation

Since version 1.3.20, ships can rotate along the horizontal axis. Rotation is supported for all standard blocks and most modifications.

Usage scenarios

With WarpDrive mod, you first create a small ship in the regular world and take off with it (moving above coordinate Y = 255) to reach space.

From space, you can travel to other planet orbits and land (descending below Y = 0) in those planetary dimensions. This could be The End, a MystCraft world, or any other dimensions from add-ons.

Since planets can be located at considerable distances from each other, for rapid movement it's recommended to use hyperspace. Small ships require jump gates to enter hyperspace, so you'll need to create a capital ship with a hyperdrive. Large vessels cannot land on planets, so their construction takes place directly in space.

In outer space, you can extract minerals from asteroids using multi-block laser mining setups.

Combat system

Ships leave radar signatures, allowing the detection of derelict objects and enemy vessels. Isolation blocks reduce your visibility on radar, making detection more difficult from distances up to 10 thousand blocks. At close ranges, players can still see your ship visually, hence the need for cloaking systems for additional camouflage.

Upon locating an enemy base or ship, you can use laser cannons to breach their defenses. Additional guns enhance the main cannon, increasing destructive power.

For protecting your own vessel, ship hulls and force fields are utilized.

Extended compatibility

WarpDrive works with:

  • Power systems: EU (IC2) and RF (CoFH), including IC2, GregTech, Thermal Expansion, Mekanism, EnderIO, BigReactors, AtomicScience, BuildCraft, DeepResonance, and others.
  • Force field systems: Immibis' Advanced Repulsion System and Imalune & Calclavia Modular ForceField System.
  • Multi-block structures from Mekanism, Calclavia ICBM, IC2 reactors, ThermalDynamics, and other modifications.
  • World generation mods NetherOres and Underground biomes.
  • Forge & Immibis microblocks, containers, mobs, and fluids for proper movement with the ship.
  • New dimensions from any modifications, including MystCraft, Galaticraft/Planets, and others.
  • Block rotation from Bibliocraft, ArsMagica2, Thaumcraft, EvilCraft, Tinker's Construct, and many more.

Integrated capabilities

  • Advanced radar system for detecting other ships in space and isolation blocks for reduced visibility.

Getting started

Your ship is built around a ship core with a control unit. Both blocks must be placed horizontally next to each other. The ship core receives both EU and RF power. The controller defines the ship's bow and connects to ComputerCraft or OpenComputers computers.

Using the computer, you define ship dimensions, assign names, manage movements, and other functions.

The maximum ship size is limited to 127 x 127 x 127 blocks, matching the standard render distance.

Players can interact with the Warp controller to register their identity and subsequently teleport back aboard via the computer interface.

Ship volume is measured in blocks, excluding air and gaseous spaces. For takeoff from planets and landing on them, volume should be less than 3000 blocks.

Hyperdrive activation allows entry into and exit from hyperspace with a minimum ship volume of 1200 blocks.

Power consumption for jumps typically amounts to 10 EU per volume block + 100 EU per distance traveled block within planets and space.

Movement in hyperspace costs approximately 10 times more but allows travel 100 times faster. Each transition into or out of hyperspace requires 10 million EU.
