Water Flasks
Welcome to the world of Water Flasks - an addon for TerraFirmaCraft: The Next Generation that offers players a convenient liquid carrying system!
Modern Version for 1.20.1
Obtaining Bladders
With the removal of the skill system in version 1.18, the bladder acquisition mechanism has been redesigned. The chance of bladder drops when killing animals now depends on the weapon used - higher damage weapons increase the probability of obtaining this valuable resource. For example, a red steel axe is approximately twice as effective as bare fists.
Drop Chances by Animal
| Animal | Drop Chance |
|---|---|
| Bovines | 50% |
| Moose | 50% |
| Bears | 20% |
| Equines | 20% |
| Sheep | 10% |
| Goat | 10% |
| Alpaca | 10% |
| Deer | 10% |
Durability and Repair
Leather flasks break after 100 damage, while iron flasks can withstand up to 400 damage. The durability bar changes color depending on the contained liquid. Repair requires bladders.
Leather Flask
Crafting a leather flask requires two strings, a bladder, two leather sides, and a knife. The capacity of this version is 40% of the original model, providing more balanced gameplay. Leather sides are crafted using a special method - check the recipe in JEI as it differs from the old leather sac recipe. Fluid level in the leather flask is indicated by visual size changes of the item.
Iron Flask
The iron flask recipe includes burlap and an unfinished flask forged from an iron sheet. The iron version has four times the capacity of the leather counterpart. Repairing iron flasks requires burlap. Fluid level is displayed as a bar in the center of the item.
Known Issues
- Filling flasks consumes the source block
- Flasks filled with all possible fluids do NOT appear in JEI, but are available in creative tabs
- Disabling iron flasks via configuration is no longer available - use datapacks instead
Historical Background
This mod is inspired by Emris' "Leather Water Sac" addon for TerraFirmaCraft version 1.7.10. The author created this replacement because they greatly missed the original mod's functionality in modern TFC:TNG versions.
Mechanics for Version 1.12
In version 1.12, bladder drop chances depended on butchering skill level, with each animal species requiring specific minimum mastery levels.
