Wooden tools are dumb
New Game Beginning Concept
This mod offers an alternative to traditional wooden tools and wood gathering with bare hands, replacing them with more logical and realistic options.
Many players have thought that Minecraft's early stage could be more believable. There are various mods that add flint tools or radically change gameplay, but none of them offered exactly the balance of difficulty and satisfaction I was looking for. Therefore, I had to create my own solution.

How to Play with This Mod
The first phase of the game - gathering wood - becomes easier. Find flint in gravel deposits, collect sticks, and create a flint hatchet. This is not difficult.
The second part - obtaining cobblestone - presents a real challenge (unless you disable this option in settings). You'll need to build a protective wall from fences or use regular dirt blocks, as this process may take a day or two. Simultaneously, it's worth starting farming - the wooden hoe still functions.
Fortunately, the mod provides a simple firepit and flint javelins. Create several javelins (three to four pieces are recommended) and meet the first night with determination in your eyes and fragile weapons in your hands!
Development Philosophy
Although the first public version was released for 1.18, work on this mod has been going on much longer. The developer often brought the project to 97% completion and stopped, so an almost finished version existed for a long time only in his personal mods folder.
The idea is partially inspired by the "minecraft is too easy" concept, where the pre-stone phase of the game was clearly distinguished. It was this atmosphere I wanted to preserve, but without the excessive cruelty of other mods whose authors seem to enjoy players' suffering.
I'm not a sadist. I can make the beginning more difficult, make you worry about food and shelter, but I want you to successfully overcome all difficulties - proud of your achievements and perhaps a little grateful to me for creating this mod.
Related Projects
The main idea is to create a series of small mods from which players can choose what they like. I don't like huge mods that completely take control of the game. Instead, I'll focus on individual aspects and try not to interfere with the player when they're doing something unrelated to the mod's theme.
The first addition worth paying attention to is Cook your food - a compact mod that encourages players to cook food to avoid negative effects.
