WPIT (Whose Pet Is That?)
WPIT is a client-side mod for Minecraft versions 1.18.2 and 1.19.x on the Fabric platform that solves a simple but important problem: it instantly shows who owns a tamed pet. Simply aim at the animal, and the owner's name will appear above it.
How It Works
The mod recognizes all major tamable animals in the game: wolves, cats, parrots, foxes, horses, donkeys, mules, and llamas. When you target such a pet, a nameplate with the name of the player who owns it appears above it.
Settings and Features
The mod offers a flexible configuration system:
- Enable WPIT - turns the mod's functionality on or off
- Nameplate Display Mode - you can choose one of three options:
- Hover - the nameplate appears only when you aim at the pet
- Always - the nameplate is always visible within a 64-block radius
- Nearby - the nameplate appears when you are within a specified distance from the pet
- Distance for "Nearby" Mode - configurable from 1 to 64 blocks
- Show Other Owners - especially useful for foxes, which can have multiple trusted players
- Nameplate Format - you can customize the text appearance using %s as a placeholder for the owner's name
- Text Color - choice of color for the nameplate
Technical Requirements
For the mod to work, Fabric API and Cloth Config are required. If you want to adjust settings directly in the game, it's recommended to install Mod Menu.
