BalanceEx
The BalanceEx datapack is a custom predefined set of stat adjustments for the PlayerEx and RelicEx mods.
Issues with Default Settings
The standard settings of these mods create several imbalances. High evasion rate completely eliminates the possibility of ranged combat in PvP. Strength becomes an overpowered characteristic, while constitution is almost useless. Dexterity functions rather strangely.
Regarding relics, excessively high critical damage chance and lifesteal break the game balance if obtained. Meanwhile, most "immortal" tier relics turn out to be practically useless. This creates a situation where relics either break the game or require excessive grinding without the possibility of balancing through simple drop rate adjustments.
Solution
Fortunately, these mods have extensive customization capabilities, but this requires creating a datapack. BalanceEx is designed to save modpack developers time by eliminating the need to study the Data Attributes format and configure stats themselves.
Recommended compatibility with other mods: intelligence may seem like a weak characteristic, but it's designed to synergize with magic mods such as Spell Power, WizardEx, and the BalanceEx Magic Addon.
Recommended Configuration Changes
(The PlayerEx configuration file will likely need to be deleted and recreated before editing)
- In PlayerEx, set the level formula to exponential (for example: "1+0.05*x^2"). You can also set a level cap - additional information is available on the PlayerEx wiki
- In RelicEx, set mobDropIsTomeChance to 0 and chestsHaveTomeChance to 0. It's also recommended to reduce the default mobsDropLootChance to 2, or even to 1 for harder gameplay or if your pack has many luck sources
New Stat Distributions
Constitution:
- +0.5 to maximum health
- +0.01 to health regeneration
- +0.25 to armor
- +0.25 to magic protection (with AdditionalEntityAttributes and BalanceEx Magic Addon)
- +0.1 to poison resistance
- +0.1 to lightning resistance
- +0.1 to freeze resistance
Strength:
- +2% to attack damage
- +5% to melee critical damage
- +0.1 to knockback resistance
- +0.01 to breaking speed
Dexterity:
- +2% to ranged damage
- +5% to ranged critical damage
- +1% to attack speed
- +1% to movement speed
- +0.1 to fire resistance
Intelligence:
- +0.2% to diminishing spell haste (with WizardEx, Spell Power and BalanceEx Magic Addon)
- +2.5 to maximum mana (with ArchonEx Addon)
- +5% to heal amplification
- +0.1 to wither resistance
Luckiness:
- +2% to melee critical chance
- +2% to ranged critical chance
- +2% to spell critical chance with strong diminishing returns (with WizardEx, Spell Power and BalanceEx Magic Addon)
- +0.05 to luck
- +1% to evasion
Relic Changes
- Critical damage relics: 10-290% → 50-170%
- Critical chance relics: 1-50% → 10-30%
- Lifesteal relics: 1-50% → 2-7%
- Attack speed relics: 0.1-2 → 0.5-1.25 (% relics unchanged)
- Evasion relics: 1-50% → 10-30%
- Strength/Dexterity/Intelligence/Luckiness/Constitution relics: 0.5-8 → 1-15, 1-50%→15-50%
- Attack Damage, Ranged Damage relics: 0.25-4 → 1-6, 5%-50%→15-50%
- Spell relic changes included in Magic Addon
- Health regeneration relics → removed
- Fire/Freeze/Lightning/Poison/Wither resistance relics → removed
