Hangul & Kana Fix
With the 1.20 update, Minecraft transitioned to the latest Unicode font version and gained full support for full-width characters with configurable options. However, the display of certain CJK characters (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) still remains unsatisfactory.
This resource pack addresses issues with CJK characters, primarily focusing on Japanese kana (仮名/カナ) and Korean hangul (한글).
Main Features
Enhanced Kana:
- Based on Unifont JP font instead of standard Unifont
- Uses handwriting style instead of print style, ensuring consistency with other characters
- Some kana (especially their diacritical marks) have been refined for better readability (MC-268370)
- Character width shortened to prevent overflow beyond interface elements
Korean Hangul:
- Fixed character width
- Regular hangul (가, 한, 삼) no longer lose pixels (MC-267230)
- Hangul jamo (ㄱ, ㅎ, ㅊ, ㅚ) now display as full-width
Other Improvements:
- Chinese iteration mark (々) redesigned and no longer occupies full width
- Full-width versions of JPY/CNY (¥), KRW (₩), and cent (¢) signs retouchured and set as full-width
- Other full-width symbols appropriately adapted
