Long Distance Signage
This resource pack solves a long-standing Minecraft problem - the limited rendering distance of signs. In the standard version of the game, signs become invisible beyond 64 blocks, creating many inconveniences for navigation and world decoration.
How It Works
Instead of using the standard entity model with limited rendering distance, the pack utilizes a block model for signs. Block models can display at significantly greater distances, allowing you to see sign text even from very far away.
Additional Improvements
The pack also adds ambient occlusion effects for hanging signs, making them visually more appealing compared to the flat shading in the vanilla version.
Another important fix addresses translucent fonts on signs. They now render correctly without any display issues.
Compatibility
With Other Resource Packs: Long Distance Signage works perfectly with any packs that modify sign textures. The only limitation is that hanging sign chains might appear slightly uneven with some packs, but this is a limitation of the base game.
With Mods: The pack is compatible with vanilla Minecraft, Sodium, Iris, Optifine, and any other modifications for version 1.21.4 and above.
With Modded Signs: Signs from other mods are not supported by this pack and will disappear beyond 64 blocks, just like in vanilla Minecraft.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will other blocks be supported? Yes, future updates plan to add support for additional blocks such as beds, shulker boxes, and others.
Does the pack affect performance? The pack doesn't speed up the game since the original entity model continues to exist and be processed. However, the performance difference compared to the vanilla version is minimal.
