The MC New Textures resource pack allows you to add modern visual style to older versions of Minecraft. The core concept is implementing Jappa Style textures (Minecraft developer's contemporary style) for game versions from 1.7.10 to 1.20.x.
The project implements several approaches: bringing modern textures back to classic game versions and developing alternative texture solutions for content that never received updates through official patches.
Compatibility and Requirements
Important: The resource pack supports exclusively versions 1.7.10 and 1.12.2. It's assumed that many basic textures were borrowed from other sources, so to get current information it's recommended to carefully study the changelists in the latest updates to identify original sources.
Many elements, particularly modernized water colors, require installation of Optifine or Continuity. We strongly recommend installing these modifications.
Project Resource Pack List
The following packs are recommended to load in order from top to bottom:
- Base Pack — main texture set in contemporary style
- Blue Water — special pack for versions 1.6-1.12 that eliminates water cloudiness
- Seamless Glass — invisible seams between glass blocks (requires Optifine)
- Mod Addon — provides texture support for popular Minecraft modifications
- Sound Pack — updated sound effects to complement the visual changes
- Wolfy — package adding modern wolf models along with unique dogs Bluey and Bingo
For users who want to develop their own additions, special ".cache-[packname]" files are included starting from version 1.5.5.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the resource pack have a direct relationship to Modernity? The developer states that the project was launched long before he knew about Modernity, and there is no connection between them.
Can I use the pack in my own projects? Yes, since all project resources are distributed under MIT license.
