Nautical Nonsense

Nautical Nonsense is a resource pack for Minecraft: Java Edition that's entirely dedicated to the SpongeBob SquarePants universe! You'll discover countless references to various episodes, specials, feature films, and even classic Flash games from Nick.com! While this resource pack follows a style similar to the official SpongeBob DLC for Bedrock Edition, its primary goal is to completely overhaul all in-game textures.

Development Status

The texture pack is currently still under development and continues to receive active work. Updates will be released regularly—at least once a month. We always welcome feedback and suggestions from the community.

How Is It Different from the Official SpongeBob DLC?

While there is indeed an official SpongeBob DLC available, it's limited to Bedrock Edition, and the textures only function within a specific world. Our resource pack, however, targets Java Edition players who want to experience the standard Minecraft gameplay but with SpongeBob-themed visuals.

Mod Compatibility

The main purpose of this resource pack is to alter standard Minecraft elements, yet it also covers textures for some smaller mods (primarily those aimed at quality-of-life enhancements).

Mods Affected by Nautical Nonsense:

• Advancement Plaques – Custom interface textures and sounds.
• AmbientSounds (5-6) – Unique ambient tracks for the End and the Nether.
• Music Manager – Displays custom music names in notification toasts.
• Portable Crafting Table – A special item texture.

Recommended Mods (Not Required)

• Any mod that shortens the overly long intervals between music tracks.
• AmbientSounds 5 – Boosts immersion in different environments.

Mandatory Requirement: Optifine (or Alternative)

Using this resource pack without Optifine may break multiple textures, the skybox, and your custom models. The pack was specifically tailored for Optifine, so results with alternative mods may vary significantly.

Bedrock Edition Version

Currently, there are no plans to develop a Bedrock Edition version—the primary reason is this platform's severe limitations regarding custom sky visuals. If an efficient method for including unique day and night skyboxes becomes available, we will consider creating a port.
