GamerPotion's FPS Tester
Establishing FPS measurement standard
This project is designed to create a unified approach to testing frame rates, allowing comparable results with different game settings. Since Minecraft lacks built-in benchmarking tools, this map provides the ability to objectively evaluate system performance both in the vanilla version and with installed modifications or resource packs.
How does testing work?
The testing process is extremely simple:
- Place the world folder in the game saves directory
- Set all graphics settings to maximum values
- Keep the field of view (FOV) at the standard 70 degrees
Measurement procedure
To obtain accurate data:
- Position yourself on the crimson nylium block
- Look at the distant crimson nylium block
- Use specialized FPS counters (FRAPS, MSI Afterburner)
Important: Avoid using the built-in F3 function for frame measurement as it shows lower values compared to actual performance.
About method limitations

This methodology does not account for temporary FPS drops (lag spikes), which are influenced by numerous factors. The main goal is to obtain a baseline performance level for subsequent comparison with various modifications and packs. The most reliable test is regular gameplay in different biomes, but the proposed method provides standardized conditions for initial assessment.
