Allay Upgrades

This datapack introduces significant quality-of-life improvements for allays, making them more useful and convenient helpers while maintaining full compatibility with Minecraft's vanilla aesthetic.

Key Features

Enhanced Allay Memory

Allays now retain memory of their assigned note blocks even when distracted by collecting items for extended periods. They'll only forget their note block when nearby and able to confirm it's no longer playing.

Amethyst Note Blocks

Placing a note block on top of an amethyst block enables infinite memory retention for allays. This creates reliable area confinement for allays without requiring constant music playback.

Owner Teleportation

When an allay strays too far from its owner and stops following, it instantly teleports back to the owner, similar to how tamed wolves behave.

Untamed Allay Behavior

Wild allays now fly at much lower altitudes, making the taming process and item handover significantly easier.

Amethyst Platforms

Special amethyst block platforms provide temporary storage for wild allays. Allays placed on these platforms become stationary and emit amethyst particles until given a new item.

Auto-Dismount

Allays carrying items automatically exit vehicles (boats, minecarts), preventing them from getting stuck during complex operations.

Book Storage

Enables compact allay storage within books for convenient transportation and game performance optimization. Simply drop a book on an allay to store it, then drop the book on the ground to release the allay.

Configuration

Most features can be toggled through game rules. Modify settings in a specific world using /function allay_upgrades:gamerules. For global configuration across all worlds, edit the allay_upgrades:default_gamerules function.
