Belly Flop
What is this mod?
This modification adds a new type of fall damage - now players take damage when landing in liquids. Particularly painful are jumps into water while in a crawling position, which fully corresponds to the mod's name - "Belly Flop". In French, this sounds like Faire un plat.
Mechanics Features
Initially, the developer planned to add only the mechanic of painful water jumps (as a fun element for role-playing games), and damage from surface tension became a pleasant addition. It's worth noting that the Surface Tension mod was the first to implement fall damage in liquids!
For full use of the belly flop mechanics, it's recommended to install a modification like Personality, which allows assuming a horizontal crawling/swimming position before entering water. With such a jump, a loud and unpleasant impact sound is played, adding realism!
Secret Achievement
Taking significant belly flop damage (5+ hearts) while holding axes in both hands unlocks the "Viking Mode" achievement.
Settings
The following parameters can be changed in the configuration:
- Damage multiplier for falling into liquids
- Default set to 0.7. Makes water bucket saves only slightly safer than falling on solid blocks
- Damage multiplier for falling into liquids in crawling position (belly flop!)
- Default 1.5. Requires real determination to take damage in this way
- Whether to apply surface tension rules only to players (default: false)
Some mobs are naturally not affected by surface tension, for example, all mobs extending WaterAnimal (including fish and other aquatic creatures). If you want to add other mobs to the immune list, you can include them in the tag belly_flop:unaffected_by_surface_tension. By default, this tag includes only drowned.
Requires Blueprint version 6.2.0 or higher. For full immersion in the mod's capabilities, it's recommended to install Personality.
