Better Balanced Mace

This small mod aims to improve the balance of the mace while maintaining its usefulness and not turning it into another useless trophy or niche item.

Main Changes

The mod introduces the following adjustments:

The Density and Breach enchantments are now mutually exclusive.

Smash attacks have become significantly less effective against armored entities. Damage is calculated using a new formula: new damage = old damage × (1 − (0.04 × (armor points − 15 × (1 − (1 − 0.15 × breach level))))).

This change creates a clear distinction between the Breach and Density enchantments: Breach becomes much more effective against armored targets, while Density remains strong against most unarmored entities. This encourages players to choose an enchantment based on the type of enemies they face (regular mobs or armored players).

According to test results, smash attacks with Breach IV and wind charges / Wind Burst III against full netherite armor with Protection IV require about 3 hits to defeat (2 with well-timed wind charge hits), whereas with Density V, 5–6 hits are needed.

The mace's base stats have been changed: damage — 11, attack speed — 1 (similar to an axe).

Wind Burst now activates when the player is falling, rather than from smash attacks. This better justifies the enchantment's rarity, considering that obtaining one book with it may require exploring 20+ trial chambers.

In a future release, most settings and changes will become configurable. The source code will be available later (likely after version 1.21 is released).
