What is Buffed Tools?

Buffed Tools is a compact modification that brings the random tool enhancement system from Terraria into Minecraft. Originally created as a tutorial project, it has evolved into a full-fledged mod that diversifies gameplay and can be a great addition to your modpack.

How the Enhancement System Works

When crafting any tool at the workbench, it automatically receives a random set of characteristics—both positive and negative. This makes every crafted tool unique with special properties.

Currently, there are 43 different modifiers that affect four main characteristics:

Durability

Increases or decreases tool durability. With a positive effect, there's a chance the tool won't lose durability when used, while with a negative effect, it may wear out faster.

Speed

Affects resource gathering speed—can either speed up or slow down the process.

Damage

Increases or decreases damage dealt to mobs. Additional damage is applied after the main damage, while the base stats in the item description remain unchanged.

Critical Hit

Gives a chance to deal triple damage to enemies when attacking.

Special Features

If you want to avoid random modifiers when crafting tools, simply hold the Shift key while taking the tool from the workbench.

To change existing tool characteristics, you can craft a special Reforging Anvil:

Reforging anvil crafting recipe

If you have mods that add steel, the regular anvil in the recipe is replaced by a steel block. Use the anvil with a right-click—the interface will show two slots: for the item to be reforged and for the result. The reforging process requires experience and works with tools from other mods!

Installation

  1. Install MinecraftForge
  2. Install DummyCore
  3. Download the mod itself
  4. Place the downloaded .zip file in the mods folder
